Flame of Love Rosary, Friday November 29th in the chapel .
“The rulers sneered … the soldiers jeered … one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus.” Is this the
King of the Jews, the King of the Universe? If it is so, perhaps his kingdom is not at all what we would expect! In his letter to the laity, St. John Paul II spoke about how Christians share in the kingly mission of Christ. First, “they exercise their kingship as Christians, above all in the spiritual combat in which they seek to overcome in themselves the kingdom of sin.” In other words, before we give any thought to transforming society, we must first allow God to transform us. Through daily prayer, regular self-examination, and frequent confession, we can recognize our faults more readily and choose love instead! Second, St. John Paul II writes that the laity “make[s] a gift of themselves so as to serve, in justice and in charity, Jesus who is himself present in all his brothers and sisters, above all in the very least.” Christ’s kingship, and our own participation in it, is requires us to look beyond the privileged of society. It goes beyond networking and struggles of power. It goes with Jesus to the Cross! Still, the kingship of Christ ought to effect society. “The lay faithful are called to restore to creation all its original value … ordering creation to the authentic well-being of humanity.” Jesus does this in a radical way through his death and resurrection. We, too, are invited to bring new life to the world around us. This means holding the world and everything in it as sacred. It means advocating for civil policies that respect life and paying special care to the vulnerable and marginalized in every stage of life. It means being disciples of Jesus, inviting people into authentic love so that one day we will together “be with [him] in Paradise!”

festivities! Please separate glass. Thank you
for supporting the Adult Education
program.
Are we looking for Christ to be our earthly king
or our eternal one? We often go back and forth
with God on this question. What we find in the
content of our prayer usually reveals the
answer. Because life can be difficult, we may
desire that God cushion our earthly experience a
bit, make it more tolerable, remove the
crosses, and do the miraculous. Preserving our
earthly lives can take too much precedence and
be of too much concern. Christ the eternal king
offers a different promise and hope. The eternal
king offers us a way through suffering and hard-
ship to the greater glory to be revealed when
our journey is completed in heaven. The eternal
king is not the king of earthly comfort but the
king who advocates for the poor, vulnerable,
lost, broken, marginalized, and hurting. We are
asked to become like the eternal king, Jesus
Christ, both in this life and in the life to come.
During the colder months, please remove your winter
gloves at Mass. The Eucharist must be placed on bare hands in order to receive.
If New Fairfield Schools are delayed, there will only be a 9:00am
Mass. If school is cancelled, there will be no Mass as the roads are not safe to travel on.

Our prayer shawl group is much more than just prayer shawls. We just shipped out crocheted and knitted scarves for the Operation Gratitude program for
our service men and women serving in our military and for veterans.
The next Prayer Shawl meeting is: Sat. Dec. 7th from 9-11:00 am in CR C.
All skill levels are welcome! Please join us! We are always looking for new members and
donations of yarn. Shawls make great gifts, they are tokens of God’s
love and support. Stop in the parish office to look at our selection.

towels, tablecloths, curtains
Small Household Goods (boxed) - kitchen items,
decorative items, knick-knacks, toys and games,
small electronics We Cannot Accept:
Mattresses, large furniture, chemicals, auto parts,
tires, flammable material, strollers, car seats,
building material and appliances.
All proceeds go towards scholarships for our
annual Steubenville East trip.

November 29th
at 4PM in the Chapel of St. Edward You are invited to pray the Flame of Love Rosary to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Fridays of November. For the Flame of Love Rosary, a phrase is added to the Hail Mary invoking the Flame of Love as follows: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed are Thou among women, and Blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, spread the effect of grace of Thy Flame of Love over all of humanity, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Prayer sheets for this special Flame of Love Rosary, will be available. All are Welcome. Please bring your rosary.

Our Christmas Gift Drive helps 8 local
agencies and provides gifts to over 380
people. Our generosity as parishioners gives
those in need gifts during the holidays.
What better way to show our love for one
another as Jesus has taught us to do.
Gift tags are now available in the
gathering space.
We ask that you only take a tag if you can
commit to buying the requested gift. These
are gift requests for individual people so if
you don’t return your gift/tag that person
doesn't receive one.
Gift collection will start immediately and
continue through December 1st. Drop your
gifts off to CR B. Please help support a great
cause and bring happiness to those less
fortunate than us.
