Dresser-Rand ® Environmental Solutions Cogeneration in the City of Sao Paulo, Brazil Dresser-Rand provides cogeneration in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Opportunity The west area of Sao Paulo state in Brazil is an important location for commerce and finance. Here, the Plaza Iguatemi Business Center sets the standard as a “triple-A,” fully automated commercial center with state-of-the-art equipment. It is the first commercial building in the area to achieve 100 percent of the required energy demand out of the public network supply. The 23-floor, 40,000 m² (0.0154 mi²) building includes many amenities, including: convention rooms, a restaurant, a fitness center with a pool, 600 parking spaces, and a 10-ton capacity heliport. Thus, it requires a large quantity of uninterrupted power. The Solution Dresser-Rand installed three of its natural gas Guascor ® SFGLD 560 gen-sets with a total power output of 2,700 kW in the first basement floor of the building as part of this combined heat and power (CHP) project. The engines are continuously monitored via a control center with more than 200 sensors that detect gas leaks or irregular temperatures. The natural gas is transformed into electrical and thermal energy by the cogeneration process (CHP), reducing costs and increasing energy efficiency. The amount of installed power is greater than the current demand, allowing flexibility for future requirements should the demand for power increase. The system works in parallel to the grid, which provides additional security to the building.

Dresser-Rand® Environmental Solutions

Cogeneration in the City of Sao Paulo, BrazilDresser-Rand provides cogeneration in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Opportunity

The west area of Sao Paulo state in Brazil is an important location for commerce and finance.

The Solution

Dresser-Rand installed three of its natural gas Guascor® SFGLD 560 gen-sets with a total power output of 2,700 kW in the first basement floor of the building as part of this combined heat and power (CHP) project.
