As per the request of the community, the Executive Mayor presented the following plan of action that will address the two identified key community issues; Land development (Township Establishment & Housing) TCM has identified Remainder of Portion 96 for Township Establishment to address the issues of Housing in the Sabie area. TCM, in conjunction with Department of Human Settlement has already appointed a Town Planning specialist, to deal with the Township Establishment process. The process of Township Establishment requires active community involvement for planning of other important issues like location of essential services: Clinics, Schools and Recreational Facilities etc. hence the importance of community to participate in the Township Establishment process. The community of Sabie must identify and allocate representatives from both Simile (Ward 6) and Harmony Hill (Ward 7) areas to form part of the Municipality Project Team for this project. This will assist the project to unfold with the speed it deserves. The community representatives will also be empowered to report back to the broader community on ongoing project progress. The municipality also needs to start with the process of identification of beneficiaries for the land and government houses. This process will identify immediate beneficiaries for government housing, but also identify beneficiaries who only need residential stands for building their need own houses. This land development project will immediately address the problem of informal settlements in Sabie as affected identified families will be relocated to this established Township. Electrification of Nkanini Informal Settlements; (I) Our aim as municipality is to resettle all informal settlements and provide basic services like electricity, water, sanitation and roads. (ii) Throughout our engagements with the community of Nkanini they have indicated that they don't want relocation. (iii) This community also has the challenge of illegal electricity connections. These electricity connections are dangerous and pose serious danger to people, but also cause damage to the Water works infrastructure that supply water to the Simile area. After numerous engagements, and consideration of the identified danger posed by illegal electricity connections, the municipality has approved a plan to formalize and electrify the Nkanini settlement. The process of formalization and electrification requires participation of community representatives from this settlement. The Nkanini community must provide names of representatives to work will TCM to start this township formalization and electrification project. The project, in the form of Township Establishment, will ensure that TCM can start planning for the installation of other basic infrastructure services to this area in the form of water, sanitation and roads. The community of Sabie has identified these two issues (Land Development and Nkanini) as their community problems and must allow the municipality space to implement the two identified projects plans. The community protests must stop as the municipality has presented an implementation plan to address the identified community challenges, and feedback will be given to the community at agreed intervals. THE Thaba Chweu Municipality has formally acknowledged the community problems that were brought to the attention of the municipality in September 2015 by the Sabie community, which also took the form of community protests. Hy het 'n groot oefenbal gebruik vir die veselglas gietvorm.Die lemoene en naartjies is vir dieselfde eienaars van Thabeng Wildsplaas wat ook JP Pack Sitruspakhuis besit, bestel.Die volgende opdragwerk is om nog twee van die Beetge-mans se borsbeelde te voltooi.

Wat die borsbeelde m e e r s p e s i a a l maak is dat dit in brons gegiet is. The Loop gietery in Witrivier het dit verbrons – wat ook bykans vier weke geneem het. Die Beetge-familie i s a l v i r t a l l e generasies in die Ohrigstad-vallei en bekendes in die omgewing.

y die Interhoër Saterdag is ’n ware stukkie geskiedenis Buitgestal. Die verrigtinge is

geopen deur ’n kanon af te vuur.Dis nie sommer ‘n gewone kanon nie maar een ryk aan geskiedenis. Dis met ’papierpluis afgevuur, wat natuurlik veiliger as koëls is. Die kaliber is ‘n vierponder en word ‘n “gunnade” genoem. Hy het altyd gestaan op die Lydenburg Dorpsplein, voor Spar se kompleks gebou is. Die museum en biblioteek was daar geleë voor dit in 1989 (die museum) na die Gustav Klingbiël Natuurreservaat geskuif is. Die kanon is in 2005 gesteel en het letterlik ’n Kaapsedraai gemaak voor dit weer in Lydenburg opgeëindig het. ’n Man het die kanon in ’n skrootwerf in Sedgefield opgemerk en dit daar by die polisie aangemeld. Mnr. Gerry de Vries van die Cannon Association of SA het navorsing gaan doen en uitgevind dat dit nr. 783 op die organisasie se inventaris is.Reëlings is getref dat die kanon terug na sy tuiste kom. Die kanon is baie uniek, daar staan Rodgers op sy loop met ’n Engelse kroon. Mnr. Hannes Joubert van Ferromax het onlangs vir die kanon ‘n onderstel met wiele gebou. Dit help baie om die kanon uit te stal en te vervoer. JP Celliers, museumkurator, het ’n navraag aan die Canon Association vir meer inligting rondom die kanon gerig. Sodra hulle die historiese feite van die k a n o n o p s p o o r s a l d a a r ’ n interpretasieplaat op die kanon

aangebring word. Daar word beplan om die kanon meer te gebruik en dit ’n instel l ing by geleenthede te maak. Juis omdat dit so e ie i s aan Lydenburg en d ie Longtomkanonne net om die draai is op die pas. BEMARKING is ’n eenvoudige woord met ’n eenvoudige betekenis. Of jy nou nou tuis lappies hekel of braairoosters maak en dit op ’n vlooimark verkoop en of jy R 4 miljoen huise verkoop, as iemand wat besigheid doen weet jy van bemarking. Of so glo en hoop ek.Dit is egter verstommend in ons daaglikse omgang met sakemense, om te sien hoe min mense werklik weet van bemarking. Moet my nie verkeerd verstaan nie, almal weet van bemarking, maar hoe wyd is mens se kennis regtig? Dit is ’n vakgebied op sy eie, wat tienmaal vergroot het met digitale platforms soos Facebook en webtuistes. Jy moet al hierdie

platforms bestudeer. Jy moet jou mark intiem ken. Bemark jy op Facebook aan jou vriende? Hulle lees jou pos op Facebook en min ander doen. Gaan jou vriende by jou koop en jou besigheid groei? Hoekom adverteer jy, hulle ken jou dan alreeds? Hoekom sal hulle spesifiek jou webtuiste soek? Iets anders moet hulle lok. As jy ’n gastehuis in Lydenburg het, hoeveel Lydenburgers bly by jou? Sal jy nie beter doen in Getaway of die reis / buitelewe tydskrifte nie? As jy produkte het wat uitstekend verkoop en ’n groot mark het, is dit die moeite werd om dié produkte te adverteer? As een van jou produkte se verkope swak vaar, gaan advertensies die verkope verbeter? Miskien hou mense nie van die produk nie en jy kan adverteer tot jy blou is, dit help dalk nie. As een van jou produkte tussenin is en medium verkope haal, wys dit dat die produk potensiaal het, maar beter kan doen. Moet jy nie dalk

hierop konsentreer nie?As jy kruideniersware teen spesiale pryse verkoop, soek jy maksimum blootstelling soos in ’n plaaslike koerant, want almal moet kos koop, so die welvaart van jou kliënte is minder belangrik. Wat maak jou restaurant of koffiewinkel anders as jou kompetisie s’n? Is dit die diens of verskeidenheid? Dit is waarna jy moet kyk as jy adverteer. Is jou meubels baie duur maar van hoogstaande gehalte? Dan is jou teiken die meer welvarende mense, so jy rig jou bemarking op hulle. As jou besigheid sukkel, sny jy op advertensiekostes? Kan jy dit bekostig of verhaas jy net jou eie moeilikheid? Moet mens nie as jou besigheid swak is juis jou bemarking vergroot nie? Die guru’s sê so.Die eenvoudige woordjie bemarking is dus baie meer ingewikkeld as wat jy dink. Jy moet blootstelling, kliënte, groeperings van kopers, pryse, kostes, tipe advertensies, frekwensie, impak en gehalte alles in ag neem. Bemarking is positief en ons brood en botter.Kom gesels met ons. Miskien kan ons mekaar help.

Die betowering van ’n Tombola. ’n Regte Tombola by ’n kerk of fees waar mens op allerhande goed afkom wat jy nie nodig het nie. Me. Hetta la Grange is op die ouderdom van 88 oorlede by die Groenkloof Versorgingseenheid in Grootbrakrivier op 15 Februarie. Sy het daarheen verhuis einde November 2015 om nader aan haar kinders te wees. Sy was vanaf 2007 ’n inwoner by die Rusoord Tehuis vir Bejaardes (eers in ’n woonstel). Me. La Grange was ’n boorling van Lydenburg, het hier gematrikuleer en as verpleegster op Stellenbosch Universiteit gekwalifiseer. Sy en haar man Swannie het in die Watervalsrivierarea geboer tot met sy afsterwe. Haar pa was een van die baie bekende en geliefde onderwysers by Hoërskool Lydenburg, mnr. Ben Vlotman. Sy was een van die stigterslede van die Wenakker Nasorgsentrum. Deur haar en haar kollegas se harde werk en insette het Wenakker gegroei tot die bekende instansie wat dit vandag is. S y w as l i d v an d i e Ly d en b u rg Dienssentrum, erelid van die Strelitzia Vroue Landbou Unie-tak, by die NG Moedergemeente Lydenburg betrokke op alle gebiede en vele ander instansies. In haar leeftyd het sy diep spore in die ontwikkelling en geskiedenis van Lydenburg getrap. Sy laat haar drie kinders na: Anna-Marie en haar man Johan Friis, Casper en sy vrou Rika la Grange, Dora en Marc Stalmans, 10 kleinkinders en agt agterkleinkinders.

’n Herinneringsdiens vind op Woensdag 2 Maart om 11:00 uit die NG Moedergemeente Lydenburg plaas.

Moedelose leeser skryf: Ek en my man het 'n kamp trailer wat ons graag wou verstel het deur die kamer gedeelte van die trailer te vergroot. Ek het ‘n stoffeerwinkel in Lydenburg gekontak en die eienaar het uitgekom na my huis toe om 'n kwotasie vir my te gee. Op die 9de November het ek vir hom die deposito geld oorbetaal met die reëling dat hy solank die hele tent sal maak en ek die trailer net moet inbring vir drie dae sodat hulle net dan die nuwe deel kan aanlas. Om en by 'n week later het hy my gekontak en gesê hy is gereed ek kan maar die trailer inbring. Vir 3 weke lank was ek elke liewe dag by sy werkswinkel om te hoor hoekom vat dit so lank en hoe lank nog. Maandag 7 Desember toe sê ek vir hom ek gee nie meer om of my trailer klaar is of nie, ek kom hom nou vat. Ek het ons dak seil en covers in sy winkel sien lê. Hy het my gesmeek om asb hom nog net kans te gee tot die volgende oggend half agt wat hy belowe het die trailer sal dan klaar wees. Om en by 6uur die oggend van die 8ste Desember 2015 skakel die eienaar my en sê my trailer is gesteel. Ek het dadelik na sy winkel toe gery en gemerk dat daar geen teken van 'n inbraak was nie. Dit was omtrent half 7 gewees. Geen hekke was oop gebreek of niks nie. Hy het net gesê dat die inbrekers die slotte mooi afgeknip het en saam met hulle geneem het. Teen 10uur moes ek hom omtrent dwing dat hy die polisie kan kontak en 'n saak kan maak, want die polisie wou my glad nie help om 'n saak oop te maak nie aangesien die “inbraak” op sy perseël gebeur het. Die eienaar was net sy hande en sê hy het nie versekering nie en hy het ook nie geld nie, ons moet

dit maar verder vat as ons wil. Daardie oggend het ek nog die tentdakkie en covers in sy winkel gesien. 2 dae later toe besluit ek ek gaan dit haal, toe sê hy net vir my daar was nooit sulke seile in sy winkel nie. Ek het ook gese ek soek my deposito geld terug by hom wat hy elke dag net se ek moet maar more kom. Na 2 weke het ek ook maar opgegee om te probeer om ten minste my depositogeld te kon terug kry. Ek het plakkate die hele dorp vol opgesit as enige iemand dalk iets gesien het of van iets weet. Het ook raad by 'n prokureur gekry om 'n bedrog saak teen hom oop te gaan maak aangesien daar geen bewyse van 'n inbraak was nie. Weereens het die polisie my weggewys en gesê hulle kan nie 'n saak teen hom oopmaak nie want ek het geen bewyse nie. In die laaste twee maande het ek met vele mense gepraat wat vir my sê van hulle goed is ook net ”gesteel” by die stoffeer plek. Net die vervangingswaarde van die trailer is R67 000! Dit is 'n Challenger Bundu Basher, wit, hy het 'n tentco senior safari tent op. Sy lisensie nr is FGR810MP, Sy VIN nr is AAWC107C10NC32038 en sy voertuigregister nr is KTT638SEk voel net so magteloos en moedeloos ek weet nie meer watter kant toe nie. Dalk sal die storie dalk keer dat so iets met iemand anders gebeur.

he Anti Stock Theft Awareness c a m p a i g n c o n d u c t e d b y t h e TDepartment of Community Safety,

Security and Liaison in the province last week has led to uncovering of gross disregard of Meat Safety Act Regulations by local butchery owners.This they did by selling meat that did not have the stamp of approval by relevant authorities and it was also discovered that some shops sold expired meat. The act provides for measures to promote meat safety and the safety of animal products; to establish and maintain essential national standards in respect of abattoirs; to regulate the importation and exportation of meat; to establish meat safety schemes; and to provide for matters connected therewith.The team also established that some shop owners were selling cooking oil which was not SABS approved and also tobacco products which contravened SARS regulations.During the campaign it was established that most butchery owners in the area also did not use accredited abattoirs for slaughtering of livestock. Some were caught slaughtering cattle under the trees and garages while other butcheries

premises did not comply with the hygienic standards as determined by the Department of Health. In other instances meat from wild animals was also found in cold rooms of meat traders and this was in contravention of their trading licenses. According to Benjamin Mthembu, Community Safety Officer in the Department, the team seized meat to the street value of over R40 000. He added that the meat and other seized items were later destroyed because in terms of meat standards, it was not safe for consumption. He has warned butchery owners to avoid slaughtering animals under trees and garages. He also added that the operation was aimed at addressing the high incidence of stock theft and to also trace livestock thieves. Mthembu has also pleaded with meat traders to assist the police to deal with livestock theft by reporting any persons who sells them livestock illegally.During the same raids the team received tip offs about certain individuals who were selling marijuana. The team immediately pounced on them and confiscated the consignment.

However, most Turbochargers in production cars today are oil-cooled. A Turbocharged Petrol engine may turn at 7 000 rpm but a Turbocharger can spin at up to 150 000 rpm. A mistake often made by people is switching their car off immediately when they come to a stop. This does not allow the Turbo adequate time to be cooled by the oil circulating around it and may result in premature Turbo failure. Although some may argue that this is not the case with water-cooled Turbochargers, it does not hurt anybody to leave a Turbocharged car to idle for about a minute before switching it off.3. Incorrect tyre pressureAlthough it seems like a trivial thing, driving your car with incorrect tyre pressure leads to increased wear on the tyres, CV joints and wheel bearings of the vehicle. This can

lead to more frequent maintenance of your car's running gear than is actually necessary. Always ensure that you car tyres are inflated to the correct pressure, not over or below the recommended pressure.4. Incorrect wheel alignment or wheel balancingYour car's wheel alignment and balancing ensures that there is not excessive friction between your car and the road. Wheel alignment ensures that your car proceeds along a true path and does not pull or veer to one direction. Wheel balancing ensures that the wheels of your car do not vibrate or provide excessive feedback through the steering. If these variables remain unchecked for too long, they can cause wear along your car's running gear and even cause structural damage to the chassis of your vehicle.5. Running your car through the reserve tankThere are times when we are short of cash or simply do not have the time to top up the fuel tank on a car. Sometimes we

run the car into the reserve tank with the intention of filling up later. This can have serious consequences for the engine life of the vehicle. When the car is run with

the petrol tank almost empty, the fuel pump sucks up some of the dirt that is left in the bottom of the fuel tank. this can lead to a seizure of the fuel pump, damage or block fuel injectors or carburettors and result in dirt in the combustion chamber which can lead to a blown engine. THE South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) governor Lesetja Kganyago has announced a repo rate increase of 50 basis points to 6.75%.The announcement means the prime lending rate is now 10.25%.How will this affect vehicle owners? Finance specialists WesBank says, the rate hike will affect buyers who have vehicle finance agreements structured around a linked interest rate. Interest on these loans will be recalculated, and account holders will be notified of the increase in their monthly installment.Rudolf Mahoney, head of brand and communication at WesBank, said: “Given the current economic conditions this hike comes as no surprise. But it will not be welcomed by consumers. Household budgets are under tremendous pressure. The interest rate has increased 175 (2.25%) basis points in 24 months, meaning those who have had car and home loans since the start of the rate hiking cycle will now really start feeling the effects.''Every time there’s a 25 basis points hike a vehicle’s monthly installment only changes by 20 or 30 rand, but all those small hikes add up.
