Who are we ? :
We are a non-profit organisation, a new Buddhist community centre established in
Sunshine Business Centre, Victoria. We aim to propagate Buddhism to the wider
communities, via Buddhist education and training; self-cultivation and
development; community engagement activities, such as, interfaith and mutual
respect activities towards a harmonious society; Dharma functions for self-
realisation and improvement; meditation for inner peace towards instituting a
mindset free from afflictions, and any other activities that are beneficial to society
(such as - ”The Gift of Life forum”).
Our monastery also provides guidance to the communities relating to:
Buddhist Wedding Ceremony and blessings
Baby Blessing ceremony (from 1 month to toddlers’ age groups)
Meditation classes to obtain inner peace and healthy mindsets
Weekly recitation of sutras to retain our original pure selves and advance further in self-development
Monthly Dharma Repentance function to obtain blessings for self, families and departed loved ones.
Prayers to ancestors and departed loved ones for their well-being. Meditation for inner peace, mindfulness and good health
Our Background:
Avalokitesvara, the original Pali name or more well known as “Guan Yin” in Chinese Culture, is a Bodhisattva that is widely revered throughout Asia, also nicknamed as “the Bodhisattva of mercy and compassion”. According to historians, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva made a monumental vow to help all sentient beings to attain enlightenment, whilst not attaining enlightenment himself until all sentient beings have attained enlightenment.
Inspired by Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's monumental vows, under the leadership of Abbess Jue Chu, Avalokitesvara Yuan Tong Monastery (AYTM), was established to promote the Buddhists’ core principles of peace and self-cultivation to the betterment of the wider communities. In the hope that one day, we too, can work towards Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's monumental vow of assisting all sentient beings to attain enlightenment.
Our founder Abbess Venerable Jue Chu was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, and was ordained at an early age of 18. Till now, for over 30 years, Abbess Chu is still propagating Buddhism, runs many large scale Dharma functions, and Buddhist educational activities, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experiences with different community groups, in the hope that these will help to build a more peaceful and mutually respectful community.
