On the first 2 pages of our bulletin, you’ll find our Highlight of the Week and information about

Worship and Sacraments at St. Vincent de Paul.

The Highlight is a featured space to give more details about a particular ministry or event.

In the Worship & Sacraments section, we’ll introduce the readings for the upcoming week and include articles about the various Sacraments celebrated

here at St. Vincent de Paul. The Seven Sacraments are the outward signs

instituted by Christ to give grace to us, and therefore are vital to the life of our parish.

Finally, these pages will include a calendar of events for the upcoming week at our parish.

PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC

ADORATION

"The Eucharist is connected with the Passion. To make sure that we do not forget, Jesus gave us the Eucharist as a memorial of his love. When you look at the Crucifix, you understand how much Jesus

loved you then, when you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you now."

- St. Teresa of Calcutta

Trunk or Treat at St. Vincent de Paul

is a family event of Halloween fun! This event has a limited number of spots to park cars, so registration is a must. Once you register, simply

decide as a family how you would like to decorate your trunk

(Halloween or “other” themed is

great!). Once you are here that night, and

your trunk is decorat-ed, all the children will have a chance to go from trunk to trunk to

“trick or treat”. We will have older

students available to help our younger

children make the rounds, as parents stay back at their cars to hand out the treats. As we get closer, you will receive an update on the number of children participating so you can plan your treats. Come and share in a great night of parish community and give your kids another chance to

wear their costumes Online registration is now open!

The Fellowship & Faith Formation

section of the bulletin is where you can

find opportunities to connect with other

parishioners through shared activities for

fun and spiritual growth. This is where

you’ll find information about upcoming

social activities and the various groups

you are invited to join at our parish.

We categorize the activities by age

group to make it easier for you to find

the opportunities that appeal to you.

You will also check this section

when you want to learn more about our

Catholic faith. You can grow your faith

together with other parishioners

through various Bible studies, small prayer

groups, speakers, retreats, classes

and other activities for school-aged

children, and much more.

Your presence is welcome and needed!

The Boy They Cal led Bizarre A BIZAA Documentary Complimentary Screening at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Brooklyn Park

Join us for a complimentary screening of this powerful documentary about one man’s quest to end child trafficking and child labor in Africa by moving children off the streets and into classrooms.

Produced during a mission trip to Nigeria in June of 2016, this is the story of Minnesota resident, Okey Anyanwu, who is working to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

About the Documentary: As an African teenager, Biza (Okey Anyanwu) cared for child laborers on the streets of Nigeria while heading to school every day. Giving away his school snacks from his backpack to feed the hungry children, he survived his days at school by begging for food from his classmates, that is, until the Head Master found out and called his behavior bizarre. Now a man, he is only known as Biza (Bizarre) in Nigeria, a name that he carries with him and that has changed the course of his life and the lives of the most forgotten among us. Working to get children off the streets and into school, Biza arrives home to Nigeria from the United States and learns within hours that two eight-year-old twin brothers who were once farm laborers that he placed in school have been kidnapped and sold to traffickers. Will he find the boys before it’s too late or will they be lost forever?

Complimentary Screening! Limited Seating.

Join Okey Anyanwu, President & Founder of BIZAA and Rachel Nee Hall, Producer and Director with Silky Pants Productions for a complimentary screening of the new BIZAA documentary, The Boy They Called Bizarre, with producer and director insights.

Venue: St. Vincent’s Regan Hall

Date: Saturday, November 5, 2016

Doors open at 8:30 AM, Screening at 9:00 AM

Watch The Boy They Called Bizarre documentary trailer and reserve your complimentary seats at www.bizaa.org.

FUNDRAISER BREAKFAST FOR WOMENSOURCE

A breakfast for Women-Source will be held next Sunday, Oct. 23, from 8:15 until 12:30 in St. Vincent's Regan Hall. The KC's will be serving French toast, cheesy hash browns, sau-sage links, orange juice or milk and coffee.

WomenSource is a non-profit pregnancy center providing free pregnancy tests and ultrasound exams. They are dedi-cated to restoring hope for women facing unplanned preg-nancies. They promote positive alternatives through educa-tion and support during pregnancy and throughout the first year of parenthood. Trained volunteers, generous donors and fundraisers make their services possible at NO COST. The proceeds from this breakfast will help them continue providing counseling, pregnancy tests, ultrasound exams, baby supplies and an "Earn While You Learn" mother’s in-centive program. Please join us for this very worthy cause. Free Will Offering for breakfast and donations at the door.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD NEEDS YOU

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is when first and second graders leave for part of Mass and celebrate the Liturgy of the Word on their level. There is no registration and no fee

to participate, just come up at the priest’s invitation after the opening prayer. This is a time of prayer and not a class so even if your child is in Faith Formation or St. Vincent de

Paul School, they are invited to participate.

We st i l l are in need of one more leader for the 9 AM Mass.

If you are interested in being a new leader, please contact Chuck Pratt at 763-762-7407 or

[email protected].

Please note that Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the Saturday 5 PM Mass was discontinued

due to lack of volunteers.

On behalf of the Men's Club

we would like to thank all

of you for your sock

donations during our first

ever “Socktoberfest”.

Because of your generosity, we were

able to collect 2,000 pairs of socks!

That is double our goal.

This allowed us to donate not just

to the VA, but also to Women’s

Division of the Hennepin

County Work-house.

Thank you for being a

great witness of Jesus' love

to our community.

Today's theme is perseverance – Moses keeping his hands upraised throughout the battle, Paul urging

Timothy to stay with the task of preaching and teaching, and the widow appealing to the corrupt

judge. To be faithful stewards of God's gifts, we, too, must persevere in the roles to which we are called.
