30th Anniversary Winnetka Heights Holiday Home Tour Recapby Marijane Michael
One of the best days in Winnetka Heights is the day of the Holiday Home Tour, and this year was even more special as we celebrated its 30th anniversary.
While it may have been a cold and rainy day, Turner House was full of activity with the silent auction, several very talented young musicians playing the piano and guitars, as well as the Tyler Street choir singing Christmas carols.
This year’s tour offered an opportunity for tour goers to visit the home of Butch and Carla Boss, who were on the
first tour many years ago, as well new comers to Winnetka Heights, Richard and Elissa Ewers and Christy Cronin. Cynthia Oliver, Jim and Tina Nohinek, and Chris and Hillary Kapfer graciously opened their homes to round out this year’s six amazing homes.
Each home was decorated in the homeowner’s style, and we heard several comments such as, “This year’s tour knocked it out of the park!” I couldn’t agree more! To top it off, if you wanted to celebrate 30 years in style, you stopped by the VIP home of Jeff and Anne Fahrenholz to enjoy

Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Parade: February 26One of our favorite times of the year is here!
Mardi Gras is a great chance for you to get involved with your community, hang out with your neighbors and meet new folks.
We invite Winnetka Heights neighbors of all ages to be a part of this year’s parade. The more kids, the better!
If you’d like to join in the parade and help build the Winnetka Heights float, please email
our Mardi Gras chair, Linda at [email protected], or join our private Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/WHMardiGrasParade.
This private group will be your go-to source for discussions, information about the float, the build schedule and any other updates that occur throughout the process.
Thank you to Linda for chairing this event!

DEKALOG
Code Awareness By Robbie Christopher
While Winnetka Heights doesn’t have the same parking challenges that the Bishop Arts District experiences, we’re not without some of our own.
We have noticed some residents placing “No Parking” signs in parkways and attempting to reserve street parking spots.
It’s against the City of Dallas regulations to prevent parking on public streets, even in front of your own home.
Any un-official signage will be removed and discarded. If you’re having an ongoing
problem with parking on a public street, please email [email protected] and we’ll attempt to remedy the situation.
Here are a couple of suggestions to help ease parking frustrations. Most of our lots will accommodate two vehicles. Be sure to pull your vehicle up to allow room for another to park behind you. This simple act will increase our on-street parking considerably.
Also, if you’re having an event in the neighborhood and expect visitors, you may not reserve
street parking for a valet service.
You can, however, contact your neighbors and let them know of the upcoming event, and ask for their cooperation in making as much room as possible.
Let’s all work together to keep parking annoyances at a minimum.

Shout out to all our Corporate Sponsors and to all of you who purchased a Premier or a Neighborhood Sponsorship.
Because of your generosity, we were able to show off the best place to live in Dallas, as well as support the funds necessary for Walkable Winnetka, crime prevention, and many of the neighborhood/community events for the upcoming year.
The after-party brought neighbors together, allowed more silent auction bidding, and closed the day out with the announcement of the winners of the annual Light Up the Heights contest.
Several new faces joined the event and offered to be involved next year. We look forward to your involvement and remember — it’s never too early to start!
With any of our neighborhood activities, it takes some great
volunteers to put it together. This year was no exception.
A special thanks to Candace Bossay, MJ Cardenas, Chris Walters, Todd Fisher, Chris Watts, Robbie Christopher, Rob Romano, Steve Bossay, Ivan Kotcher and many day-of-the-tour volunteers.
I’m so grateful to you for all your time and effort in making this year’s tour a success.
