Troy is the reigning Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derbychampion, the Calgary Stampede Aggregate winner, and won theCalgary Stampede's Safe Drive Award for Least Penalized Drivertitle all in. He won the Ponoka Stampede in 2012 as well becom-ing the first chuckwagon driver to win chuckwagon racing’s “Triplethe Calgary Stampede’s Centennial Celebration year of2012Crown” consisting of the Ponoka Stampede, CalgaryStampede Aggregate and the GMC Rangeland Derby in a singleyear. Troy won the Calgary Stampede's Orville Strandquist Awardfor Top Rookie Driver in 1998 and has qualified for the CalgaryStampede GMC Rangeland Derby's winner–take–all champi-onship final heat three times. He won the WPCA Clean Drive

He qualified for the GMC Rangeland Derby’s “Semi FinalSaturday” in 2010, and joined the WPCA Pro Tour in 2012 quali-fying for the winner–take–all championship final in his first eventat the Grande Prairie Stompede. Prior to joining the WPCA, Garyhad a very successful career on the CPCA circuit where he wasthe 2010 CPCA Champion driver, the CPCA’s High Point Driverthree times in four years, and won 13 show championships in a5 year stretch. Gary won the CPCA’s Bruce Bremner Award forthe Most Consistent Barreling Outfit in 2010, received the

CPCA's Chuckwagon Family of the Year Award in 2005, and qualified for the winner–take–all final for theCPCA Championship in six consecutive years and finished no worse than 3rd overall in the same time peri-od. Gary is a second generation wagon man whose father Art Gorst competed at the Stampede in the late1970’s and early 1980’s. Gary is the father of fellow driver Logan Gorst and champion outrider Dustin Gorst.
