April 15 - 30, 2012 We are blessed greatly today to have as our guest preacher and teacher Dr. Chuck Kelley, President of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He will be helping us to be more committed to and effective in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Our desire is that every one of us be a faithful witness. This light hearted story may encourage you. In his book, Good News Is For Sharing, Leighton Ford of the Billy Graham evangelistic team, writes: I was speaking at an open air crusade in Hali- fax, Nova Scotia. Billy Graham was to speak the next night and had arrived a day early. He came wearing a hat and dark glasses and sat near the rear of the crowd on the grass. No one recog- nized him. Directly in from of him sat an elderly gentle- man who seemed to be listening intently to my presentation. When I invited people to come for- ward as an open sign of commitment, Billy decid- ed to do a little personal evangelism. He tapped the man on the shoulder and asked, “Would you like to accept Christ? I’ll be glad to walk down with you if you want to.” The old man looked him up and down, thought it over for a moment, and then said, “Naw, I think I’ll just wait til the big gun comes tomorrow night.” Billy and I have had several good chuckles over that incident. Unfortunately, it underlines how, in the minds of many people, evangelism is the task of the “Big Guns,” not the “little shots.” There are no “little shots” in God’s family. Love in Jesus, Bro. Joe Morton Senior Technical Writer, Dynetics Where I serve in ministry: Shuttle Driver and Shuttle Chairman Why I serve: I feel everyone should serve Christ and the church in a way that gives them joy. If you love what you do in service, then you will want to do your best. As a shuttle driver I help create the first impression on Sunday morning. When people ride the shuttles I have opportunity to impact their lives before they enter the church doors. This gives me incentive to drive on Sundays. How you can serve in this ministry: Drivers will need to be between the ages of 25-70 and be a church member. A CDL is not needed to drive the shuttles. Training will be offered to all who drive and drivers serve every 5 to 6 weeks. Interested shuttle drivers can speak with Joe Morton or contact Christian Parrish at [email protected] or 256-704-5678, ext. 246 for more information. iServe s serve Joining by Baptism: • Rachel Hart • Anna Varnon • Steven Stolz • Renee Yancey • Dexter Smith, Jr. • Rebekkah Qualls • Kyrsten Qualls • Caleb Qualls • Luis Sanchez • Katie Jo Karr “We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly.
