2013 District Contest Results, cont.HORSE JUDGINGThe team placed 2nd overall in the Intermediate Division, and Grace Gillespie was 2nd Overall Intermediate Individual. Grace also won the Performance Class Placings, while Kalee Risse was 2nd with her Halter Reasons Score. The third team member was Savanna Graves, and she had numerous top 10 individual placings as well. Great job, girls!
LIVESTOCK JUDGINGThe Senior Team, consisting of Quinton Whitfield, Cody Belew, Will Pettit, and Tanner Barnes, won 6th Overall. Bayli Williams also competed as a Senior Individual. Morgan McKinzie won 1st High Junior Individual and Jake Bagby also competed as an Intermediate individual.Way to go!
MOHAIR JUDGINGCongratulations to our two Senior Teams, consisting of Kenna Faulkenberry, Bayli Williams, Conner McKinzie, Patrick Delaney, Aidan Delaney, and Chelsi Vineyard, who will be advancing to State. And congrats also to Randi Williams and Riley McKinzie, who won 1st and 2nd place Intermediates.
2013 District Contest ResultsRIFLE MATCH3-Position smallbore: The Junior team, consisting of Ryan Atchison, Colton Bradberry and Williams Wallace, won 1st place. Colton, Ryan, and William, also won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Individual, respectively. Weldon Wallace, Luke Whitely, and Payton Williams made up the Intermediate team, which placed 2nd. Luke and Payton won 1st & 2nd Individual. The Senior team, consisting of Niquel Barnett, Zach Bradberry and Cailin Way placed 2nd and qualified to compete in the Texas 4-H Infoor Rifle Match. Cailin also won 1st place Individual and Zach won 5th place Individual.

Zane Dickey showed his dog, Baby, at the Azle Dog Show last weekend, they received 1st Place! Congratulations!-----------------------------------We have several 4-Hers interested in the Dog Project and are looking for someone to head up the Dog Project and/or be Club Manager of a 4-H Dog Club. April 26th we ended the 2012-2013 Erath County Pasture to Packer Program with an awards banquet held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center. During the banquet the results of the program were announced along with the participants and sponsors being recognized.
This year’s program included 11 participants which included Carson Ballinger, Quade Griffin, Morgan McKinzie, Weston Pettit and Cole Stanley in the Junior Division. In the Senior Division participants included Cody Belew, Aidan Delaney, Kenna Faulkenberry, Conner McKinzie, Will Pettit and Bayli Williams.
Participants had the opportunity to attend seven educational programs during the feeding period. The programs included Feed and Feeding, Beef Cattle Selection, Cattle Selection and Processing, Marketing 101, Cattle Empire Feedlot Tour in Kansas, Live Animal Evaluation and Meat Science 101/Carcass Quality Judging.

2013 Pasture to Packer ResultsWe had 2 Horse Quiz Bowl teams compete. The Junior team, consisting of Allissa Adams, Camilla Buchanan, Nathan Starnes and Shanna Starnes, won 1st place in the Junior division. The Senior team, consisting of Landrey Jackson, Kaitlyn Pierce and Kelsay Singleton, placed 3rd in the Senior division.
Laurie Tolboom placed 4th in the Senior division of Clothing & Textiles Presentations. Weston Pettit placed 1st in the Intermediate division with his Promote 4-H presentation.
Riley McKinzie won 1st place Intermediate in Public Speaking and Morgan McKinzie won 1st place in the Junior division.
Victoria Saucedo won 2nd in the Share-the-Fun competition in the Intermediate division.

YOUTH RANGE WORKSHOPJune 23 - June 28 in Junction at TTU Campus
Purpose: To recognize outstanding youth, develop leadership, rub shoulders with professionals and provide a stimulating but in-depth educational experience and training for youth interested in practical range, ranch, and natural resource management.
Selection of applications will be accepted until 40 participants are selected. Open to youth 14 - 17 years of age and who have completed the 8th grade.
Cost: $300 (includes meals, lodging and supplies)

LEADERSHIP LABParticipants will need to bring their own pillows, sheets, towels, wash cloths, and personal items. A light blanket is recommended. For recreation: swimsuit, sturdy shoes for active games, old tennis shoes or water shoes for lake. A light jacket or sweater is also recommended, as classrooms and dorms may be cool. Dance theme costumes: Super Hero, Black Tie Affair.

One of the major events at Leadership Lab will be the election of officers for the District 8 4-H Council. Council Officer applications must be sent to the District Office, postmarked by May 31, 2013. You must have attended Lab at least once before to be eligible to run for office.

May is the month when all 4-H clubs hold officer elections. Therefore it is very important for as many members to attend the May monthly club meetings as possible. Contact your Club Manager if you are interested in, or would like more information about running for an office.
Also, many clubs will do something a little different, like a cookout or end of year celebration. Please check the list below for May Club Meeting dates & times.
Officer Elections for County Council and District Delegates will be held on
Wednesday, May 22 at 5:30pm at the Extension Office
Bring pictures to work on the scrapbook. We will also start making plans for our annual 4-H Banquet.RSVP by May 17th as food will be provided.
• Dairy Club will meet at 6 pm on Thursday, May 23 at the Gazebo in the Stephenville City Park for their annual picnic and end of year meeting.
• Shooting Sports Club will meet on Sat., May 4th at 11 am at the Large Pavilion at Stephenville City Park
• May meeting of the Lamb & Goat Club is cancelled.
