Saturday July 21, 2018 4 DISTRICTS EO suspended, BMO attached, salary of 30 others withheld STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: The District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Friday order suspen- sion of an Executive Officer, attachment of a Block Medical Officer and withholding salaries of 30 officials of health department. Meanwhile explanations have been asked from CMO, BMO Nowshera, Sunderbani, Darhal, Kalakote and Manjakote for their failure to instil disci- pline and punctuality of officials in health institutions working under their control. The EO Municipality Sunderbani was suspended in backdrop of his absence from a meeting held under chair- manship of DDC Rajouri to review the arrangements for successful completion of Budha Amarnath Yatra. In spite of explicit directions from district administration for not leaving station without prior permission, the said officer was out of station without any intimation to administra- tion and failed to attend the Yatra meeting. The DDC also ordered attachment of BDO Darhal in view of various complaints received during public meeting held at Darhal on July 19, 2018 regarding payments under MGNREGA. Pertinently the said Block Development Officer skipped the meeting during review of achievements of RDD by the DDC. The salaries of 30 employees of Health Department posted in PHCs and Health Sub-centres which were found locked during surprised inspections by the admin- istration on July 10, 2018 and July 18, 2018 were also withheld as part of stringent actions to discourage absen- teeism in government institutions. Additional Deputy Commissioner is appointed as inquiry officer and expla- nation are called from all these employees It's worth mentioning here that instructions have been issued to all controlling officers/DDOs to regularly mon- itor attendance in their own and subordinate offices espe- cially in remote areas for effective delivery of essential services. Two rape accused among three absconders arrested STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI : Three persons, including two rape accused, were on Friday arrested in separate operations in Rajouri district, police said. As per the details, a team of police headed by SHO Darhal Habib Pathan arrested an absconder namely Mohd Qasim son of Atta Mohd resident of Pargal Darhal who was evading arrest in case FIR No 52/2016 under section 376/366/458/343/147/323 RPC of Police Station Darhal. Accused was arrested from Somwali Dhok locat- ed on higher reaches of Darhal. Another police team headed by SHO Manjakote Ajaz Haider also nabbed one absconder namely Mohd Qayoom son of Mohd Rafiq resident of Bata Dhurian in Mendhar who was involved in case vide FIR No 5/2013 under sec- tion 376/363/109 RPC of Police Station Manjakote. The said accused person was absconding for the last five years. Another accused namely Mukhtar Ahmed wanted in case vide FIR No.38/2014 under section 366/376/341 of Police Station Gursai District Poonch was also arrested from Panja Chowk Rajouri yesterday evening by a team headed by SI Ajaz Mirza of Police Station Rajouri. The said accused was evading his arrest since 2014 and his movement was reported in Rajouri town after which team of the police station laid a trap and managed to appre- hend him. Missing girl, woman traced STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR/SAMBA: Police on Friday traced girl and a woman who went missing from Rehmble and Samba respectively. According a reports, on July 19, 2018 family members of a girl lodged a missing report with Police Station Rehmbal that their daughter went missing since July 19, 2018. Over it, a team of Police Post Ghordi comprising of SI Parshotam Sharma along with Const. Rattan Singh , Shamsher Singh led by SHO Rakesh Singh under the supervision of Dy SP Jagdev Singh Slathia conducted raids at different suspected locations and traced the girl from Bus Stand Ramban. She was brought back to Police Post Ghordi and hand- ed over to her family after proper legal procedure. In Samba district, Police traced out missing woman and reunited with her family Reports said that an information was received at Police Station Bari Brahmana that one woman has been roam- ing in the village Shahen Talab. Acting on the informa- tion, a party of Police Station Bari Brahmana reached the area and traced the staid woman who brought safe- ly at Police Station Bari Brahmana. On questioning, she disclosed her that she is resident of Harni Tehsil Mendhar District Poonch. Man nabbed with heroin STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 8 grams of heroin from his possession. As per the details, SHO Police Station Kathua Inspector Amit Sangra seized 8 grams of heroin during patrolling near Sunil Choudhary Chowk Kathua Parvaiz Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Kabir Bhat resident of Anantnag. He was arrested and a case vide FIR no 269/18 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered against him. STATE TIMES NEWS VIJAYPUR: Farmers on Friday held a protest demon- stration against the adminis- tration for not providing them electricity supply and canal water in the border village making their lives miserable. The farmers held a protest demonstration outside the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Vijaypur demanding uninter- rupted electricity supply and canal water in tale end village along the International Border. "We are not receiving supply of electricity regularly and only get it two hours thus we cannot use water pumps for irrigation of fields in border villages" said Manjit Singh, former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary. He said that the people in border villages have been suffering badly and the administration has turned blind eye towards it. "We have warned the administration including ADC and DC Samba while appraising them about the problems being faced by the farmers. They have assured us that those will be resolved," said Manjit Singh, former Minister. He further said that the out of 24 hours, the electricity is provided to the border resi- dents for only two hours which is totally in adequate. "When they are paying all the electric- ity bills, why cannot they enjoy round the clock electricity?" he questioned. He added that the canal water supply has similar situation and the tale-end vil- lages have been facing neglect and the farmers are left at the mercy of God. Meanwhile, he further high- lighted lack of infrastructure and improper road connectivity for the border villages. Citing an example, he said, the Vijaypur - Ramgarh road (Samba District) is in shabby condition and the concerned department is not bothered about it. "The road is in bad condition. Commuters cannot ply vehicles on this roads," he said, while appraising the administration. He also threat- ened that if the demands of the farmers are not accepted, they will come on the roads for their acceptance. Border farmers without electricity, canal water supply: Congress Farmers staging protest at Vijaypur. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Friday reviewed and finalised arrangements for smooth conduct of Budha Amarnath Yatra commencing from August 17, here at a meeting of officers and representa- tives of religious organisa- tions. The meeting had a detailed deliberation on the arrange- ments for smooth and suc- cessful conduct of Yatra. All the officers were asked to ensure that arrangements relating to their respective departments are put in place well in time. Arrangements like ade- quate supply of drinking water, cleanliness of the venue, construction of tem- porary sheds for community kitchens and Langars, ration and LPG supply, security arrangements, transport arrangements, maintenance of road, fire extinguishers, medical facilities etc were deliberated upon in detail and the concerned officers were asked to ensure all these facilities well before com- mencement of the Yatra. A traffic management plan was discussed for hassle free movement of Yatris enroute from Sunderbani to Bhimber Gali. It was decided that suf- ficient number of traffic cops and recovery vans will be deployed at Sunderbani and Rajouri to check wrong park- ing of vehicles. For the security of Yatris, cut off time was fixed beyond which no vehicle of Yatris will be allowed to move towards Poonch. As thousands of Yatris are expected to visit Budha Amarnath from within and outside the State, the DDC directed the officers of Tourism, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Horticulture and Agriculture Departments to put up stalls for showcasing local tourist destination and products. People protest against BMO Majalta STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Residents of village Khoon in Tehsil Majalta held a protest against Block Medical Officer (BMO) Majalta in order show their resentment against the Health Department which failed to ensure services of the doctors and other duty bound para- medical staff members at PHC Khoon. Locals assembled at vil- lage Khoon and held a protest against the BMO for not paying serious attention towards their problems. Problem erupted over road accident in which a local girl got critically injured on Dhar Road in the morning. Protestors alleged that while critically injured girl was shifted to PHC Khoon, none of the doctors and paramedical staff was found on duty. Irked over it, people came on the road and blocked the road to disrupt traffic movement. Protestors raised slogans against BMO and higher ups of the department for ignoring their genuine demand to ensure health care services to the people. STATE TIMES NEWS BANIHAL: National Conference leader and District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen expressed grave concern over erratic power supply in far-off areas of the Banihal Assembly Constituency due to dam- aged transformers that have not been set right for weeks together. During his extensive visit to Neel and Khari area, Shaheen, while interacting with the people, decried that the neglect of the previous PDP-BJP dispensation say- ing due to misrepresentation administration was ignoring the constituency. He sought immediate repairs to the transformers and restoration of power. STATE TIMES NEWS VIJAYPUR: Farmers onFriday held a protest demon-stration against the adminis-tration for not providing themelectricity supply and canalwater in the border villagemaking their lives miserable.The farmers held a protestdemonstration outside the SubDivisional Magistrate (SDM)Vijaypur demanding uninter-rupted electricity supply andcanal water in tale end villagealong the International Border.

"We are not receiving supplyof electricity regularly and onlyget it two hours thus we cannotuse water pumps for irrigationof fields in border villages" saidManjit Singh, former Ministerand JKPCC GeneralSecretary. He said that thepeople in border villages havebeen suffering badly and theadministration has turnedblind eye towards it. "We havewarned the administrationincluding ADC and DC Sambawhile appraising them aboutthe problems being faced by

the farmers. They haveassured us that those will beresolved," said Manjit Singh,former Minister.

He further said that the outof 24 hours, the electricity isprovided to the border resi-dents for only two hours whichis totally in adequate. "Whenthey are paying all the electric-ity bills, why cannot they enjoyround the clock electricity?" hequestioned. He added that thecanal water supply has similarsituation and the tale-end vil-lages have been facing neglectand the farmers are left at themercy of God.

Meanwhile, he further high-lighted lack of infrastructureand improper road connectivityfor the border villages. Citingan example, he said, theVijaypur - Ramgarh road(Samba District) is in shabbycondition and the concerneddepartment is not botheredabout it. "The road is in badcondition. Commuters cannotply vehicles on this roads," hesaid, while appraising theadministration. He also threat-ened that if the demands of thefarmers are not accepted, theywill come on the roads for theiracceptance.

The meeting had a detaileddeliberation on the arrange-ments for smooth and suc-cessful conduct of Yatra. Allthe officers were asked toensure that arrangementsrelating to their respectivedepartments are put in placewell in time.

A traffic management planwas discussed for hassle freemovement of Yatris enroutefrom Sunderbani to BhimberGali. It was decided that suf-ficient number of traffic copsand recovery vans will bedeployed at Sunderbani andRajouri to check wrong park-ing of vehicles.

For the security of Yatris,cut off time was fixed beyondwhich no vehicle of Yatris willbe allowed to move towardsPoonch.

As thousands of Yatris areexpected to visit BudhaAmarnath from within andoutside the State, the DDCdirected the officers ofTourism, Handicrafts,Handlooms, Horticultureand AgricultureDepartments to put up stallsfor showcasing local touristdestination and products.

UDHAMPUR: Residents of village Khoon in Tehsil Majalta helda protest against Block Medical Officer (BMO) Majalta in ordershow their resentment against the Health Department whichfailed to ensure services of the doctors and other duty bound para-medical staff members at PHC Khoon. Locals assembled at vil-lage Khoon and held a protest against the BMO for not payingserious attention towards their problems. Problem erupted overroad accident in which a local girl got critically injured on DharRoad in the morning. Protestors alleged that while criticallyinjured girl was shifted to PHC Khoon, none of the doctors andparamedical staff was found on duty. Irked over it, people cameon the road and blocked the road to disrupt traffic movement.Protestors raised slogans against BMO and higher ups of thedepartment for ignoring their genuine demand to ensure healthcare services to the people.
