Prabhat Pheri began and culminated at Bus Stand, Katra after passing through Ban Ganga Road, Dak Banglow, Shalimar Garden, Chintamani, Hanuman Mandir and Main Bazaar Katra. Enroute devotees, keeping with the tradition, led the pro- cession singing religious Mantras to fill the air with spirituality. Today's Prabhat Pheri pro- vided a glimpse of the rich Marathi tradition as artists from Maharashtra - Ahmednagar were using drummer (Dhol) in their tradi- tional way. Artists from Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh also joined the procession and made this event more impres- sive. Meanwhile devotees and artists from various parts of the country continued to arrive at Katra to participate in the Navratra Prabhat Pheri event. Chief Guest DIG, CRPF Sushil Kumar Misra flagged off the Prabhat Pheri in pres- ence of Senior Citizen Babu Ram Dubey Ex. Chairman Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra, Shashi Gupta and Ajay Sharma Patrons of Navratra Prabhat Pheris Committee Katra. Chief Guest appealed to the people to follow the path of Maa Vaishno Devi and teach- ing of Dharma to make the nation strong and prosperous. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: Thirteen shows of 'Mata Ki Kahani' have been staged by Natrang Jammu as part of Navratra Festival being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and district administration. Dr. S.D.S Jamwal, Inspector General of Police Jammu zone was the Chief Guest during today's performance. Conceptualized, scripted, designed and directed by Balwant Thakur this mes- merising performance based on the entire legend of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is the first theatrical presentation ever per- formed on stage. Director Natrang and his team of experts have conceptualized this spectacle on stage which kept the audience spellbound throughout the per- formance. Right from the classic literature to the popular folk narratives sung in tra- ditional 'Karkan' style, it took Balwant Thakur three years in research, docu- menting, and deliberating to create this one hour power-packed presentation which is largely based on music and the theatre of images. A team of seventy performers, designers, musicians, choreographers, stage crafts people, sound and light experts have put in their best to bring this brilliant creation on stage. The story begins from the 'Treta Yug' and culminates at the present shrine where finally 'Bharon' was killed by Mata Vaishno Devi. The significance of each and every step of Mata's journey to the present shrine has been beautifully elaborated through aesthetically designed composi- tions and dramatic sequences. Balwant Thakur is known as a magic man in creating the visual imagery and this presentation has added further to his shining examples of his earlier visual spec- tacles. Speaking on the occasion he nar- rated few of his experiences of creating this challenging work. This is Balwant Thakur's first creation on mythology and with the limited resources at his com- mand, he has been able to make it a glit- tering world attraction. GDC Samba organises lecture on enhancing employability skill Navratra F estival 2017 13th show of play ‘Mata Ki Kahani’ staged STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday alleged that admin- istration instead of adopting a scientific approach to solve the braid chopping mystery is shy- ing away from its responsibility by imposing ban on the entry of poor labourers in District Doda. Secretary CPI erstwhile District Doda, Des Raj Manhas said this in a state- ment issued here while appeal- ing the District Magistrate Doda to revoke the Order No. DMD/17/728 dated September 19, 2017, in which he had pro- hibited the entry of labourers belonging to other States in Doda District. While showing his concern on the increasing number of braid chopping cases, which has cre- ated terror among the women, Manhas said that imposing ban on poor laborers will not solve this problem instead a scientific approach is needed to redress the issue. "The doctors has diagnosed it as a psychiatric problem and a kind of mass hysteria, which usually occurs in females of age group from 14 to 44 years. This problem need to be investigated on scientific lines and people should be edu- cated that there is neither ghost, black magic nor any out- sider, who has created this problem," he maintained asking Minister for Health, Bali Bhagat to depute specialists in psychiatry to District and Sub District Hospitals of Doda. Thirty five cases of mysterious braid chopping have been reported in District Doda, which has created panic and fear psychosis among people. In the last day of prelimi- nary rounds of the competi- tion, Dr. Shivankar Bharti from Jammu clinched first position and qualified direct- ly for Semi Final to be held on September 28. The second position was shared by duo singers Rashpal Singh and Kirpal Singh from Punjab and Surinder from Jammu and third position was held by Rakesh Malhotra also from Jammu. The train- ing was held under the guidance of Directorate of Extension SKUAST-Jammu. The event was conducted by the team of scientists from KVK Doda comprising Dr Narinder Paul, Dr A.S Charak and Dr G.N Jha. Dr Narinder Paul, Scientist KVK Doda acquainted the par- ticipants about role of farmers in extension services especially farmer to farmer extension and farmer led extension for speedy transfer of agriculture technology and proper reach of information about technology and centrally sponsored schemes to grass roots providing visible impact on the farm- ing of the Panchayat. Various group exercises for motivation of farmers in leadership development were also conducted by the organisers. Seven injured in mishap STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Seven people were injured in road mishap at Jammu -Pathankot National Highway near Sandbari Ghagwal in district Samba on Wednesday. According to the report, a truck (JK02AS-9129) head- ing towards Kathua from Samba hit an Innova car (JK02AP-7745) injuring seven occupants of the car. The injured were identified as Rashmi Sharma, dauhter of Girdhari Lal, Vibul Sharma, son of Girdhari Lal, Rakesh Kumar, son of Mohan Lal, Parshtom Kumar, son of Romal Chand, Kanta Devi, wife of Girdhari Lal, Girdhari Lal, son of Sansar Chand and Sudgar Kumar, son of Sansar Chand, all residents of Akhnoor Jammu. SHO Ghagwal SI Rajeshwar Singh reached the spot and shifted the injured people to Trauma Health Centre Ghagwal where doctors referred all the injured people to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for further treatment. STATE TIMES NEWSKATRA: Thirteen shows of 'Mata KiKahani' have been staged by NatrangJammu as part of Navratra Festival beingorganised by Jammu and KashmirTourism in association with Shri MataVaishno Devi Shrine Board and districtadministration.

Conceptualized, scripted, designed anddirected by Balwant Thakur this mes-merising performance based on the entirelegend of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is thefirst theatrical presentation ever per-formed on stage. Director Natrang andhis team of experts have conceptualizedthis spectacle on stage which kept theaudience spellbound throughout the per-formance. Right from the classic literatureto the popular folk narratives sung in tra-ditional 'Karkan' style, it took BalwantThakur three years in research, docu-menting, and deliberating to create this

one hour power-packed presentationwhich is largely based on music and thetheatre of images.

A team of seventy performers, designers,musicians, choreographers, stage craftspeople, sound and light experts have put intheir best to bring this brilliant creation onstage. The story begins from the 'TretaYug' and culminates at the present shrinewhere finally 'Bharon' was killed by MataVaishno Devi. The significance of each andevery step of Mata's journey to the presentshrine has been beautifully elaborated

through aesthetically designed composi-tions and dramatic sequences.

Balwant Thakur is known as a magicman in creating the visual imagery andthis presentation has added further to hisshining examples of his earlier visual spec-tacles. Speaking on the occasion he nar-rated few of his experiences of creatingthis challenging work. This is BalwantThakur's first creation on mythology andwith the limited resources at his com-mand, he has been able to make it a glit-tering world attraction.

BHADARWAH: CommunistParty of India (CPI) onWednesday alleged that admin-istration instead of adopting ascientific approach to solve thebraid chopping mystery is shy-ing away from its responsibilityby imposing ban on the entry ofpoor labourers in DistrictDoda. Secretary CPI erstwhileDistrict Doda, Des RajManhas said this in a state-ment issued here while appeal-ing the District MagistrateDoda to revoke the Order No.DMD/17/728 dated September19, 2017, in which he had pro-hibited the entry of labourersbelonging to other States inDoda District.

While showing his concern onthe increasing number of braidchopping cases, which has cre-ated terror among the women,

Manhas said that imposing banon poor laborers will not solvethis problem instead a scientificapproach is needed to redressthe issue. "The doctors hasdiagnosed it as a psychiatricproblem and a kind of masshysteria, which usually occursin females of age group from 14to 44 years. This problem needto be investigated on scientificlines and people should be edu-cated that there is neitherghost, black magic nor any out-sider, who has created thisproblem," he maintained askingMinister for Health, BaliBhagat to depute specialists inpsychiatry to District and SubDistrict Hospitals of Doda.Thirty five cases of mysteriousbraid chopping have beenreported in District Doda,which has created panic andfear psychosis among people.

In the last day of prelimi-nary rounds of the competi-tion, Dr. Shivankar Bhartifrom Jammu clinched firstposition and qualified direct-ly for Semi Final to be heldon September 28.

The second position wasshared by duo singersRashpal Singh and KirpalSingh from Punjab andSurinder from Jammu andthird position was held byRakesh Malhotra also fromJammu. All these alsostraightway qualified forquarter final to be held thisevening. In all 13 partici-pants performed in theround.

DODA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Doda on Wednesdayheld a daylong training programme on development of leader-ship traits for the farmers of Panchayat Panjgrain. The train-ing was held under the guidance of Directorate of ExtensionSKUAST-Jammu. The event was conducted by the team ofscientists from KVK Doda comprising Dr Narinder Paul, DrA.S Charak and Dr G.N Jha.

Dr Narinder Paul, Scientist KVK Doda acquainted the par-ticipants about role of farmers in extension services especiallyfarmer to farmer extension and farmer led extension forspeedy transfer of agriculture technology and proper reach ofinformation about technology and centrally sponsoredschemes to grass roots providing visible impact on the farm-ing of the Panchayat. Various group exercises for motivationof farmers in leadership development were also conducted bythe organisers.

The farmers were educated that awareness, capacity build-ing, credit and institutional linkages are very important torealize the target of doubling farmers' income, a nationalagenda of all the stakeholders connected with agricultureresearch extension and development. Farmers were also sensi-tized about different centrally sponsored schemes in agricul-ture.
