Golf fundraiser benefi ts band

The Fourth Annual Prairie Colors Band Golf Classic will be held noon Monday, July 19, at Bent Creek Golf Course.

The proceeds from the event will help to off set the costs of the Eden Prairie High School band tours and provide schol-arships to assist students in their band experience. The cost of the event is $125 for an indi-vidual or $500 for a foursome and includes the round of golf (a scramble format), golf cart, dinner and awards banquet, gift bag for all golfers, door prizes, hole events, a silent auction and raffle. Nicole Foyt was recently named the winner of the 2010 Holasek-Griffiths Scholar-ship.

According to a news release, the “Holasek-Griffi ths Scholar-ship was created in 2000, by Mr. Harold Griffi ths who made a large donation to the founda-tion, and established an endow-ment to fund this scholarship. It is in honor of Mr. Griffi th’s late wife, Betty Holasek-Griffiths, Eden Prairie High School class of 1947.”

Receiving Presidential Honor Scholarship

Rachel Smith, of Eden Prai-rie, received a North Dakota State University Presidential Honor Scholarship totaling $10,000 over four years. Smith will attend NDSU in the fall and major in mechanical engi-neering.
