On 5th may, 2009 he brought back eye glasses of our national father Mahatma Gandhi for 1.8 million (app. 9.3 crores) at an auction

On 26th march 2010 he has donated Rs. 6 crores to Tirupati Temple constructing golden wall.

CONTROVERSIES June 16 2006: Liquor baron and Rajya Sabha member Vijay Mallya slammed Karnataka former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for ''unnecessarily creating a controversy'' over the multi-crore Bangalore- Mysore.
