A meteor is a body in space that is made of metal or stone. If a meteor enters the Earth’s atmosphere, it will get hot and shine brightly. When it gets near Earth, a meteor shoots across the night sky leaving a trail of light. Meteors are sometimes called shooting stars because of the way they flash across the sky. Some meteors fall to Earth. They may make holes in the ground.
