Stations of the Cross

Shadow Presentation Our High School Teens are hard at work in learning how to represent each Station in a shadow format. What is a shadow presentation? Behind a curtain our teens will represent each station with a light projected on them in such a way that a shadow appears to the audience. The Stations of the Cross will be told from Mary’s perspective. Join us on Sunday, March 10, at 6:30 pm in Deasy Hall. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity!

Prayer

“For everything is from you, and we only give you what we have received from you.” (1 Chronicles 29:14)

A stewardship parish strives to nourish the soul through prayer. It is through prayer that we nurture our

personal relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Prayer purifies and intensifies the intention of the

Christian steward. Prayer increases our yearning to receive the source and summit of our Catholic faith, the

Eucharist. All we are and seek to become is strengthened and becomes more perfect through the Eucharist,

where we again recognize our total dependence upon God for everything. All that is good is a gift from Him.

In both our personal and communal prayer, we turn toward God to discern properly our talents and gifts. In a

steward’s response, we place those gifts at the service of God and one another. At the heart of the steward’s

prayer is the petition, “Thy Will be done.” At Prince of Peace, we practice the gift of Prayer in many ways,

including the following Ministries:

Altar Servers Art & Environment Prayer & Devotional Liturgy

Stewardship: Parishioners Answering God’s Call Recently a parishioner, dealing with family issues, received a nice surprise while waiting in the carpool line to pick up her children from school. Two friends, also parishioners heard about her plight and brought dinner for her family that night to her car. She referred to them as “angel ears and eyes of the church - always listening to find out who needs help.” This act of Christian kindness made the parishioner feel special and loved! Can you be someone’s ‘angel’ during this Lenten season?

Help us! Submit your stewardship story examples to [email protected]. They may be edited for space consideration.

Casting Lots for the Seamless Garment (John 19:23-24)

Cemetery of Innocents, Garden of Justice

Like many pro-life student organizations, Students for Life at Saint Louis University, annually display crosses in a prominent area of its campus to commemorate the number of lives lost to abortion. This year they modified their “Cemetery of the Innocents” display to include five subjects, many of which do not traditionally align with what people think of when they think of pro-life issues. The “Cemetery of the Innocents” was a visual representation of five offenses against the dignity of the human person: abortion, capital punishment, rape, physician assisted suicide and poverty. To make the display more impactful, they used specific, local data where possible, such as abortions on college-aged women in Missouri and the number of people living below the poverty line in St. Louis. Because they are not only committed to destroying a culture of death, but also cultivating a culture of life, they created a “Garden of Justice” to represent different movements toward restoring the dignity of every human life, from conception to natural death. Paralleling the subjects of the “Cemetery of the Innocents,” the “Garden of Justice” comprised color-coded flowers to represent the number of students aided by SLU’s Pregnant and Parenting Student Assistance, states that had repealed the death penalty, rape, abuse, and Incest National Network affiliated crises centers in Missouri, states that have outlawed physician assisted suicide, and meals served by Campus Kitchens nationwide. (Patrick Grillot, Consistent Life web page, issue #147 02.15.13)
