Meet Martha…Martha has an amazing story of love of music and the determination to be seizure free by convincing a team of doctors to remove much of her right brain. Martha Curtis is a concert violinist who learned how to co-exist with epileptic seizures even from the stage. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to meet Martha Curtis and hear her inspirational music and life story!
Need childcare while you attend the Conference? Please take advantage of this new program created for children ages 2 – 12 who have epilepsy or a family member with epilepsy. The Kids Conference Day Camp takes place at the same time and location as our annual Wellness & Epilepsy Conference. The day camp was created to serve the following two purposes:
• to allow parents who have kids with epilepsy and adults with epilepsy who have kids to attend our Wellness & Epilepsy Conference without having to find childcare • to provide a full day of fun, educational, recreational, and social activities for kids who have epilepsy or a family member with epilepsy
Older children attending the day camp will have the option to participate in the Keynote Address, which is part of the Wellness & Epilepsy Conference, but for the remainder of the day, activities will include the following:
• Fun “ice-breaker” games to help kids get to know each other, • An interactive discussion with a pediatric neurologist from Children’s Hospital of Michigan, • “Choice” time (a variety of group recreational activities for kids to choose from), • Group Discussions about healthy behaviors, handling bullying, dealing with stress, etc., • A creative group project that kids will work on throughout the day that will promote teamwork, reflection, and sharing of ideas.
Download our Kids Conference Day Camp Application from www.epilepsymichigan.org or call us at (800) 377-6226, ext. 1302, and one will be sent to you.
