THE INEXPRESSIBLE MYSTERY
The God of the uni-verse is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the universe came into being or ex-plain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mys-tery of God, for no
matter what name we use, God always transcends our lim-ited ability to understand. God is a mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sanctifying love into the world. Today’s scriptures celebrate the mystery of the Trinity and give us clues for living that mystery in our lives. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
MISTERIO INEXPRESABLE
El Dios del universo es misterioso. La ciencia no ha podido resol-ver el misterio de cómo el universo surgió ni explicar exactamen-
te qué es lo que conti-núa dándole energía creadora y diseño magis-tral. Ninguna religión afírma que ha encontra-do las palabras para nombrar plenamente el misterio inefable de Dios, ya que no importa qué nombre usemos, Dios siempre transciende nuestra limitada capaci-dad de comprensión. Dios es un misterio en el que se cree y que no se conoce. Y sin embargo,
nosotros los cristianos creemos que el nombre que usamos para Dios es el que mejor expresa ese misterio inexpresable: Dios es la Santísima Trinidad de tres personas unidas en una comunión de amor, que se vierte en amor creador, salvador y santifícador so-bre el mundo. Fathers’ Day Novena In celebration of Fathers’ Day, we will have a Novena of Masses. The series of 9 Masses will begin with the Anticipated Mass of Sunday at 5 PM on Saturday, 17 June and include every Mass on Sunday, 18 June (Fathers’ Day), through the daily Mass of Thursday, 22 June.
Continuing this week, you can enroll your fa-ther, father-in-law, grandfather (living or de-ceased) in the novena simply by writing his/their name(s) on the novena envelope (included in the donation envelope packet, as well as available on the table in the vestibule), and submitting the envelope with your contribution to the parish in the regular collection or bring-ing it to the Parish Office. Final turn in time is the 8:00 AM Mass on Saturday, 17 June.
Novena por el Día de los Padres Por motivo de la celebración del Día de los Padres, tendremos una Novena de Misas. La serie de 9 Misas comenzará con la misa antici-
pada del domingo, el sábado, 17 de junio a las 5 pm e incluirá todas las misas del domingo, 18 de junio (Día del Padre) además de las misas diarias de la semana, hasta el jueves, 22 de junio.
Continuando este semana, pueden registrar a sus padres, suegros, abuelos en la Novena escribiendo sus nombres en el sobre que se envió para este pro-pósito en sus paquetes de sobres de donación (sobres
adicionales se pueden encontrar en una mesa a le entrada de la Iglesia) y entrégarlo en la colecta dominical o tráerlo a la Oficina Parroquial. El último plazo para hacerlo será en la misa de las 8:00 am del sábado, 17 de junio.
Parishioner to be Ordained a Deacon On two Saturdays in June (the 10th and 17th), Bishop Kicanas is ordaining Deacons for our diocese. On Saturday of this weekend, the ordination of six Permanent Deacons is in Yuma. Next Satur-day, 17 June, at 10:00 AM in the Cathedral of St. Augustine downtown, 14 men will be ordained Permanent Deacons and two men will be ordained Transi-tional Deacons. (The latter two men are in for-mation for being ordained priests within the next year.)
Among the men being ordained at the Cathe-dral is Niyibizi Shukurani of our parish. While participating in the Common Formation Program of the diocese, he has also been serving as Direc-tor of Ministry for our African Community.
The African Community will be celebrating his ordination with a reception on Saturday afternoon. Our parish community will celebrate with him at a reception on the Parish Plaza after the 10:00 AM Mass on Sunday, 18 June. On that Sun-day, Shukurani will serve as Deacon at our Masses in English assisting a visiting priest, Fr. Paul Flamm, C.S.Sp.
Fr. Paul is a member of the Spiritan Fathers (formerly known as The Holy Ghost Fathers). He is serving as a missionary in a refugee camp in Tanzania. It is there that he became acquainted with Shukurani, and mentored him into a parish leader serving as Pastoral Administrator of several faith communities.
On Sunday, 25 June, Shukurani will assist as Deacon and preach at the 3:00 PM Mass with the African Community. Since he speaks several of the languages of our African Community (Kirundi, Swahili and French), members of the community who do not speak English will at long last be able to hear homilies in their own language.

Parroquiano a Ser Ordenado Diácono En dos sábados de junio (el 10 y el 17), el Obispo Kicanas ordenara a dos diáconos de nuestra diócesis. Este sábado, la ordenación de seis diáconos permanentes será en Yuma. El siguiente sábado, 17 de junio, a las 10 am en la Catedral de San Agustín en el centro,
14 hombres serán ordenados Diáconos Permanen-tes y dos ordenados Diáconos Transitivos. (Los últi-mos dos se están formando para ser ordenados sacerdotes dentro del siguiente año).
Entre los que se están ordenando en la Catedral está Niyibizi Shukurani de nuestra parroquia. Mientras participa en el programa de Formación Común de la Diócesis, también ha estado ejerciendo como Director Ministerial de nuestra comunidad africana.
La comunidad africana celebrará su ordenación con una recepción el sábado por la tarde. Nuestra comunidad pa-rroquiana celebrará con él en una recepción en la plaza de la Igle-sia después de la misa de las 10:00 am el domingo 18 de junio. Ese domingo, Shukurani ejercerá como Diácono en nuestras misas en ingles asistiendo al Padre visitante Paul Flamm, C.S.Sp.
El Padre Paul es miembro de los Padres Espiritistas (antes cono-cidos como Padres del Espíritu Santo). El ejerce como misionero en un campo de refugiados en Tanzania. Ahí conoció a Shukurani, y lo guió para convertirse en líder parroquial sirviendo como Adminis-trador Pastoral de varias comunidades de fe.
El domingo 25 de junio Shukurani asistirá como Diácono y dará el sermón en la misa de 3:00 pm con la comunidad africana. Como el habla varios de los lenguajes de la comunidad africana (kirundi, swahili y francés), miembros de la comunidad que no hablan inglés van a poder escuchar después de tanto tiempo homilías en su pro-pio lenguaje.

Changes to 3:00 PM Masses through the Summer
Masses with the African Community
In June, this Mass will be transferred from the 3rd Sunday (18 June) to the 4th Sunday (25 June). In July we will not have a Mass. However, in August, it will be on the third Sunday (20 August).
Masses with the Polish Community
There will not be a Mass in Polish on the first Sundays of July and August. The next Mass in Polish will be in September, but on the 2nd Sunday (10 September) since the first Sunday of that month is a holiday weekend.

Ready and Waiting for Your Love and Support One of the valuable services that TIHAN offers CarePartners is a CareTeam – a small group of volunteers who work together to provide extra support for 3–6 months to one person living with HIV. CareTeams can take on many different forms – providing transportation for a few months while a CarePartner recovers from surgery, or making phone calls and visits to someone who is going through a rough patch and just needs a friend to listen – but in all cases, the reward is a personalized relation-ship with a CarePartner who needs your support—and who will probably leave just as great an impact on you as you leave on him or her! Seeking Toiletry and Personal Care Items for Care Packages
Last year, we distributed 1,275 care packag-es to people living with HIV. Many people are facing increased financial hardship, find-ing themselves on a limited disability in-come and stretched to buy basic necessi-ties. Only TIHAN provides care packages
filled with basic personal care, toiletry, and hygiene items that have been donated for those we serve. All year, we are collecting items such as soap, shampoo, toilet tissue, deter-gent, toothpaste, paper towels, bleach, cleaning supplies and more to help provide basic toiletries and a healthy and clean setting for people living with HIV. For a complete list of all items we need every day, call us.

Todo el año, estamos recolectando artículos como jabón, champú, papel higiénico, detergente, pasta de dientes, toallas de papel, lejía, productos de limpieza y mucho más para ayudarles a tener un espacio limpio a las personas que viven con VIH. Deficit Fund Collection Next Weekend At the end of June, we will end our Fiscal Year. Unfortunately, we anticipate completing the year “in the red”. However, we are hopeful that with the final funding rally, we will be able to end “in the black”. This “final funding rally” is made up of our Feast Day Raffle and Casino Night Celebration along with this Deficit Fund Collection. Fortunate-ly, we are current with all our bills, but we need to be able to pay the current ones. Your generosity is appreciated!

Thank you for the 6.5 dozen hard boiled eggs donated in May! We made 245 lunches in May. 20 dozen eggs will give us enough for 1 egg in every lunch. Please bring a dozen hard-boiled eggs in their original carton to the Share-A-Lunch group any time between 9 and 10 AM.

Carmelites to Attend Provincial Chapter the Week of 18–23 June
The Carmelite Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, the Province to which our three Carmelites belong, will be having its triennial Chapter 19–23 June.
A Provincial Chapter is a gathering of the members of a Religious Order/Community to elect their leadership, vote on legislative items concerning their life and minis-try as a community, and for fraternity and continuing formation experiences. This Chapter will be taking place at the Carmelite Spiritual Renewal Center in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada beginning on Monday morning, 19 June. Therefore, our three Carmelites will be departing Tucson early on Sunday morning, 18 June and returning on Friday night, 23 June.
Present in the parish through Thursday morning to cover both the Sunday and daily Masses as well as emergency calls will be Fr. Paul Flamm, C.S.Sp. (see bulletin item about the ordination of a parishioner as a Permanent Deacon).
Fr. Marco Barsulto will preside at the 6:30 PM Mass in Span-ish on Thursday evening; and Fr. Bob Kose, O.F.M.Cap. will preside at the Friday morning 8:00 AM daily Mass as usual.

La Provincia Carmelita del Purísimo Corazón de María, la provin-cia a la que pertenecen nuestros tres Carmelitas, tendrá su Capí-tulo trianual en junio 19–23.
Un Capítulo Provincial es una congregación de los miembros de una orden/comunidad religiosa para elegir a sus líderes, votar en temas legislativos relacionados con su vida y ministerio como una comunidad, y por fraternidad y experiencias de formación conti-
nuas. Este capítulo se llevará a cabo en el Centro de Renovación Espiri-tual de los Carmelitas en las Cataratas del Niágara, Ontario, Canadá, empezando el lunes 19 de junio por la mañana. Así que nuestros tres Carmelitas partirán de Tucson temprano el domingo 18 de junio en la mañana y regresarán el viernes 23 de junio por la noche.
Estará presente en la parroquia hasta el jueves en la mañana para cubrir las misas de diario y del domingo y para llamadas de emergen-cia el Padre Paul Flamm, C.S.Sp. (ver boletín sobre el tema de ordena-ción como Diacono Permanente de un parroquiano).
El Padre Marco Barsulto presidirá la misa de 6:30 pm en español el jueves; y el Padre Bob Kose, O.F.M.Cap. presidirá la misa de las 8:00 am el viernes como de costumbre.

Low Gluten Hosts Available We have a supply of Low Gluten hosts for those who have celiac disease. Persons wishing to receive a Low Gluten host should let the sacristan or the priest presider know before Mass begins. A host, isolated in its own packaging, will be added to the hosts to be consecrated at Mass. This host will be with the priest distributing commun-ion, so the person requesting this type of host needs to go to the priest for communion. When in front of the priest, indicate your need for the Low Gluten host.

Faith Formation Formación en la Fe
Religious Education Registration for the 2017–18 Catechetical year will be the first weekend in August. Parents may register their child/ren for sacrament preparation at that time. Catechesis for Reconciliation and First Communion is offered to chil-dren of eight years of age and older. Preparation is a two consecutive year process. The child must have been baptized in a Roman Catholic Church and must attend classes weekly.

Baptism Preparation Sessions Parents of infants and/or toddlers who wish to have them bap-tized are required to participate in Baptism Preparation Sessions. These two-day series are only offered five times a year, and not every month, so parents need to plan ahead.
The series in preparation for baptism celebrations in July, August or September continues this week: in English on Thursday evening (15 June) from 6:30 to 8:30 PM; and in Spanish on Monday evening (12 June) from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
The next series will be in September. If you, or someone you know, is planning to baptize a child, please contact Mary Ann in the Parish Office (795-1633 x 102; [email protected]) to reg-ister. Do not select Godparents until after communicating with Mary Ann.

St. Cyril Parishioners Give the “Gift of Life” The Knights of Columbus and the American Red Cross would like to send a special thank you to all who participated in the
Blood Drive on 4 June. From 23 potential donors, we obtained 20 whole bloods and 3 power reds for a total collection of 25 pints (132% of our goal!) with the potential to save 65 lives. Our thanks to all participants and to all who prayed for and otherwise sup-
ported the participants. The next blood drive will be on Sun-day, 17 December 2017.
