    4D Bio3 Program Capabilities

The 4D Bio³ facility has a wide assortment of commercially available and custom bioprinters• Laser induced forward transfer, extrusion, stereo-lithography,

    and microvalve techniques

    • Multimodal printing

    • Ability to match material properties to cell and tissue type

    • Largest multi-tool bioprinter in the world

The 4D Bio³ lab space is equipped with all the necessities and expertise for eukaryotic cell culture• Differentiation into any adult cell type with pluripotent

    stem cells

    • All cell types in tissue model derive from single source

    • Human cell lines with normal chromosomal karyotype

    • Rhesus macaque pluripotent cell line with normal

    chromosol karyotype

    • Ability to add immune component without cross-reactivity

The 4D Bio³ is a Uniformed Services University Program with a 7,000 ft² facility that supports a

broad range of research and education activities related to biotechnology. The facility includes

a biofabrication suite, tissue culture room, bioreactor and sensor facility, and medical/surgical

simulation room. The laboratories capabilities encompass precision medicine, biomarker discovery,

drug and vaccine development, medical technology validation, bio-sensors, environmental and

occupational health, medical simulation, distance/education learning, and regenerative medicine.

The 4D Bio³ facility contains rapid proto-typing technology for bioreactor design and fabrication• Rapid prototyping

    • Multi-chamber format for barrier tissue testing

    • Custom applications

    • Biocompatible materials

    • Continuous monitoring of culture conditions

    • Oxygen, TEER, flow, and force measurements

    • Optical and electrochemical sensing

4D Bio³ utilizes electrospinning equipment, including traditional electrospinning and novel direct write technology, to create 3D tissue • Printing nanofibers to form tissue structures and scaffolds

    • Print rate of hundreds of lines per second

    • Ability to print synthetic materials (e.g. polyethylene

oxide) or natural materials (i.e. collagen)
