INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Quantities, an AxisVM-Plugin that performs a determination of quantities in an existing AxisVMmodel. The Quantities plugin analyses all elements from the model and orders them in different Excel tables. The generated tables serve as basis for further tasks (e.g. Cost estimate).
This user guide contains all instructions needed to install and use the plugin Quantities.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To be able to use Quantities, the following system requirements must be fulfilled::
Windows (XP, 7, 8)
AxisVM 11 or newer
Microsoft Excel
INSTALLING QUANTITIES
The plugin Quantities requires only a few minutes to be installed.
Execute the file "setup-Quantities.exe" and follow the instructions on the screen
The installation folder cannot be randomly chosen. The Quantitiesmust be necessarily installed in the sub-folder “plugins” in theinstallation directory from AxisVM (Standard C:\AxisVM11).The installation automatically detects the right directory ofAxisVM-installation, thus Quantities folder only needs to bechanged in exceptional cases.
After the installation, the corresponding folder will be opened.
Copy the license file ("Lizenz.ikey") to this folder in order to beable to use the plugin Quantities.

QUANTITIES BASICS
This chapter explains the plugin's operation.
PROGRAM USE
Start by opening a model in AxisVM. You will noticethat the menu bar contains a new item (Plugins).
The program is started by clicking on the menu“Plugins” and then “Quantities”.
The main mask in the plugin Quantities contains many check-boxes and buttons. Below is the description ofthe functions of each part of the mask.
Classification
□ By materialTable with the following sorting sequence: material type; material; element; thickness or length.Gives information about the number ofelements, area, volume and weight.
□ By cross-sectionTable with the following sorting sequence: cross-section group; cross-section profile; material; length.Gives information about the length, number ofelements, volume, weight and inner and outersurface area.
□ By storeyTable with the following sorting sequence: Storey; element; material; thickness or cross-section profile + length.Gives information about the number of elements, total length, surface area, volume and weight.
Column length
□ Effective takes into account the length reduction of columns due to the thickness of floor plates and/or slabs.
□ As in the model takes the length from the model, exactly as it was geometrically defined.
Units
□ Sets the units and decimal places for the variables used by the program. (Thickness, length, surface area, volume and weight)
Info
□ Opens a new window with information about theprogram, such as version, company name andrelease notes. (See image below)
After the selection from classifications, columnslength and units, the table generation in Excel can bestarted by clicking “OK”.

MODEL REQUIREMENTS
CLASSIFICATION
If the model contains no defined materials, no cross-sections or no recognized storey, the correspondentcheck-box will be disabled since the classification isnot possible.
COLUMN LENGTH
For a correct consideration of effective column length, it is necessary to run a mesh generation for alldomains in the model.
TABLE DATA
The tables are generated as separate Excel-sheets.The table selection can be made using the tabs.
Every table contains an outline that improvesdata reading and organization. By clicking onthe grouping symbols ( and ) the data froma level can be hidden or shown.
To show or hide all rows of a level, the user canclick on the corresponding grouping symbols (
).
COVER
Information about the document, such as date, author and a short summarystay on the cover sheet.

TABLE BY MATERIAL
In the first column many material types can be found. However they are further categorized by materialname, component, and after by thickness or length.
The second column contains the number of elementsin the model with these properties.
In the case of domains from the model (slabs, floorplates, walls and other domains) the plugincalculates the simple surface area of thesecomponents and write it down on the third column. For line elements the outer surface area iscalculated.
The volume is calculated for all components. The fourth column contains the total volume of all componentswith the corresponding characteristics.
The fifth column contains the weight. It is calculated for every component the same way as the volume.
TABLE BY CROSS-SECTION
The cross-sections are sorted by cross-sectiongroups and then further categorized by material andlength. The length is shown in a separate column.
The third column gives the number of elements inthe model with the given properties.
The volume is calculated for every component. The fourth column shows the total volume from elements inthe model with these properties.
The fifth column contains the weight. It is calculated for every component the same way as the volume.
The two last columns contain the outer and inner surface area.
TABLE BY STOREYS
The hierarchy existing on the first three columns hasthe following sequence. The first level contains thedifferent storeys existent in the model, these arefurther divided in component, material, thickness andcross-section profile/length.
The second column contains the number of elementsin the model with the corresponding properties.
The total length is the sum of the length of each element. This sum is shown on the third column..
In the case of domains from the model (slabs, floor plates, walls and other domains) the plugin calculates thesimple surface area of these components and write it down on the fourth column. For line elements the outersurface area is calculated.
The volume is calculated for every component. The fifth column shows the total volume from elements in themodel with these properties.
The sixth column contains the weight. It is calculated for every component the same way as the volume.
BASIC DATA
The table “Basic Data” is an additional table which contains a list with all elements and their properties. Thistable is used to generate the other four tables. The table “Basic Data” is hidden in MS-Excel after thedetermination of quantities.
