Section AA. Read the story below and answer the questions.

Linda has a younger brother named Mark. Mark always disturbs Linda and takes her things. Linda says, I can lend him my things but I wish he would ask me first. Im fed up with Mark.

One day, Mark comes home from school feeling ill. He sleeps through the afternoon. That evening his parents took him to the hospital.

Mark has to stay in hospital for the doctor to do some tests on him. He stays there for many days. Everybody visits him including the neighbours.

A few days later, Linda finds her mother crying. Mark is very ill. He may not get well, she says. Linda starts to cry and runs quickly to her room. She wants Mark to get well. She wants him to get home. She knows now how much she loves her brother.

The next day, Linda and her parents go to the hospital. I love you, Mark. Get well soon, Linda whispers to Mark and she smiles.

Soon after.....

B. Read the passage and answer the questions. Ming Chu has a blue school bag. It is an old cloth bag, and the bag is torn in places. Some of her classmates have big lovely canvas bags. Some of her friends make fun of her old blue bag.

Get a new bag, Ming Chu. Throw away that bag. Its an ugly old bag.

Ming Chu gets upset when she hears this. Her good friend, Aishah says, Dont listen to them, Ming Chu. They are mean. I like your bag.

Ming Chu feels happier when she hears her friend says this.

One day, the teacher asks all the pupils to share a little story about themselves in class. Ming Chu shares this story.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful lady. She loved us all, and looked after us. Then, one day she fell ill. While in bed, she sewed five blue bags with the words WORK HARD. She gave my brothers and sisters one bag each. She also told me to look after my little brothers and sisters well. A few weeks later, she died. That beautiful lady was my mother.
