Helene Fielder’s clay sculpture, Ocean Reef, was selected as the Best In Show at the 2015 show by judge Dr. Elliot A. Knight. Helene received a $3500 award and her beautiful sculpture became the 109th piece in the Permanent Collection of the Bluff Park Art Association. e Permanent Collection contains both two and three-dimensional works of art. e collection consists of each show judge’s selection of the Purchase Award, acquisitions by the association and gifts from supporters. e oldest piece in the Permanent Collection was acquired through a Purchase Award in 1968. Pieces are loaned to schools, libraries and public offices in Jefferson and Shelby counties on a rotating basis. Morrison’s studio is on-site at the Wade Sand and Gravel quarry in Birmingham, Alabama. She received a degree in Economics from e University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. She later studied welding at Bessemer State Technical College and began to work as a sculptor. Morrison focuses on large-scale works created for architectural, urban, or landscape settings. 2016 Bluff Park Art Show Judge

DeeDee Morrison

This year’s show judge is DeeDee Morrison, a nationally recognized contemporary metals sculptor with large art installations in 16 states as well as in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Morrison is working on the forefront of creating large-scale solar powered and LED light sculptures to communicate public priorities and vision.
