Brandon Gibbs In Concert At WCC July 11 Brandon Gibbs, multi-talented musician, writer and entertainer, will perform at the Warren Cul- tural Center on the square in Greenfield July 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the last of WCC’s 2019-20 “Locals and Legends” series. Cumberland City Council Proceedings May 12, 2020 The Cumberland City Council met in regular session on May 12, 2020 at 7:02 p.m. at City Hall with Mayor Virginia Coughlin presiding. Council members present were Sandra Eversole, Mike Hill, Darrin Hardisty, Mike Martin (7:10 p.m.) and Scott Becker. Others: Jonathan Sothman and Fire Chief Brad Penton. A motion to approve the agenda was made by Hardisty, seconded by Ever- sole. Ayes: all. Fire Chief Brad Penton requested that the City Council approve the purchase of a new tank for one of the fire trucks. The amount of purchase would be $10,703.00 and would come directly from the fire department budget. The tank is shedding fiberglass particles into the water supply and has the potential to clog the hose when in use. City Clerk Grace Thomsen informed the Council that the Fire De- partment still had $12,452.85 left in their budget for the fiscal year 19/20. Eversole made a motion to purchase the new tank, Becker seconded. Ayes: all. The City Council of the City of Cum- berland has been made aware that the roof of the Library needs replaced due to leaking. The City will begin taking bids in the coming month. Mackenzie Cross Graduates From Univ. of IA

More than 5,700 University of Iowa undergraduate, graduate and professional students gradu-ated this spring under extraordi-nary circumstances.

Mackenzie Cross of Massena was among the students con-ferred their degrees. Cross was a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, whose pro-gram of study was Anthropol-ogy. The degree awarded was a bachelor of science.

Brandon Gibbs In Concert At WCC July 11

Brandon Gibbs, multi-talented musician, writer and entertainer, will perform at the Warren Cul-tural Center on the square in Greenfield July 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the last of WCC’s 2019-20 “Locals and Legends” series.

Brandon Gibbs is a national recording artist and explosive guitar player with a power-ful, soulful voice and brilliant sense of melody that sets him apart from his contemporaries and is also proud to call Iowa his home. Gibbs’s songwriting takes you on an incredible jour-ney throughout the performance, often transcending genres of rock, blues, pop and country. Gibbs is also the front man for supergroup “Devil City Angels” (2014-present) featuring Rikki Rockett (Poison), Traci Guns (L.A. Guns) and Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy). Record labels include Century Media Records and Golden Robot Records.

Gibbs’s single “Leave” is used to promote anti-bullying (stopbullyz.org). Schools and bike rallies are among the events where he brings his message that “You’re not alone in your strug-gles, and you are original. Am-plify your love and your light, and never stop being YOU.”

Cumberland City Council Proceedings

May 12, 2020The Cumberland City Council met in

regular session on May 12, 2020 at 7:02 p.m. at City Hall with Mayor Virginia Coughlin presiding. Council members present were Sandra Eversole, Mike Hill, Darrin Hardisty, Mike Martin (7:10 p.m.) and Scott Becker. Others: Jonathan Sothman and Fire Chief Brad Penton.

A motion to approve the agenda was made by Hardisty, seconded by Ever-sole. Ayes: all.

Fire Chief Brad Penton requested that the City Council approve the purchase of a new tank for one of the fire trucks. The amount of purchase would be $10,703.00 and would come directly from the fire department budget. The tank is shedding fiberglass particles into the water supply and has the potential to clog the hose when in use. City Clerk Grace Thomsen informed the Council that the Fire De-partment still had $12,452.85 left in their budget for the fiscal year 19/20. Eversole made a motion to purchase the new tank, Becker seconded. Ayes: all.

The City Council of the City of Cum-berland has been made aware that the roof of the Library needs replaced due to leaking. The City will begin taking bids in the coming month.
