    1 Scope of Work

The intention of this document is to provide Sanitary sewer calculations for the EPC-6 contract buildings. This document covers particularly the sanitary sewercalculations for the EPC-6 as per the design basis for drainage for the EPC-6contract

    2 Standards and Codes

The sanitary sewer design shall be based on the following documents and standards:

    Design basis for drainage 5578-TEC-HU-013

Waste water engineering- Metcalf and Eddy.

    3 Units of Measurement

Units of measurement are in litres and cubic. Meters.

    4 Analysis and Design

The sewer quantities are based on the following generation rate per capita

    Facili ty Flow rateLitres/person/day

    Offices without shower 60

    Offices with shower 100

    Workshop/Warehousewith shower

The peak occupancy for the each building is taken from the Architectural designbasis. The peak occupancy is multiplied with the peak flowrate to obtain the sewageflow per day for each building.

The sump pit volumes are based on 8 hours storage and the pump flowrates arecalculated based on pumping time of 2 hours.

    5 Conclusion

The sanitary sewer calculations have been prepared for every building individually as

per the above description. The calculations results are attached in appendix A.

The sumps shall be physically located in the catchment area which they serve.

    4.5. Sanitary Sewer System (SS)

    4.5.1.

    Flow Rates

The average wastewater quantities shall be estimated based on the following generation rate per capita: .

    -

canteens with shower facilities: 150 litres/person/day

    -

buildings with shower facilities: 100 litres/person/day-

    others: 60 litres/person/day

The above figures are based on 8 hours operation per day and obtained from Reference 9, which providestypical water use for industrial, commercial and institutional facilities. These rates combined with the

occupancy in the buildings will result in very high flows.

The peak occupancy and period of operation for each building is taken from the Architectural Design

Basis (Reference 6). Peaking factor of 3 shall be used to derive the design flow.

    4.5.2. Lift Stations

Sanitary wastewater shall be collected by lift stations or septic tanks. In the case of lift stations, these shallbe located next to the building or group of buildings that they serve. The volume collected shall be

pumped to the STP for treatment.

The effluents shall enter the sumps by gravity flow in underground pipes.

The sump pump set shall consist of a minimum of two pumps (one duty and one standby) of equaloperating capacity.

The pumps shall be macerator type. Under normal operation, these pumps will be automaticallycontrolled by level settings.

Septic tanks may be installed in distant low population areas.

The sumps shall be covered to reduce the odour emissions, and vented to a safe location.
