Technical Solution

ITT Capstone Project

Fifth Element, Inc

Technical Solution to the Client

Currently, the five offices are technologically behind the times, both in network

setup and physical equipment. In our proposal, we at Fifth Element can provide a

cutting-edge solution that meets both the customer’s anticipated budget, and conforms to

today’s industry standards.

The offices are to be set up on a central domain, in which each office has its own

Organizational Unit, or “OU”. The domain will be configured so that each user will have

their own login name and password, and be assigned a lifetime email address (LTE) withwhich they may receive emails.

The offices will be connected to each other over a Wide Area Network, on a T-1

connection provided by Bright House Networks. Each Local Area Network will be

configured on a 100Mbps connection. The cabling is to be performed by Custom

Cabling.

In addition to upgrading the network between sites, the physical equipment will

be upgraded as well. Each server, workstation, firewall, router and multifunction devicewill be upgraded to newer models, equipped to conform to today’s industry standards.

The phone system will be upgraded and will integrate Voice Over IP, whichallows for a greater range of functionality than standard analog telephone systems.

All of the current standalone printers will be replaced by multifunction printers, whichare capable of printing over the network, scanning images, faxing and making copies.

Scanned images may be sent over the network to a shared folder, or to a user’s email

address as a PDF attachment.

We feel that this setup will provide the functionality needed by the customer at a

decent price and is set to last for years to come.
