Bread for the World says that 16.2 Million children live in food insecure households in the US, 20.6% of households with children according to FeedingAmeri- ca.org. And a report by ABC News says these numbers do not include people who are homeless because they don’t have a household. According to the study Household Food Security in the United States in 2011 (USDA. Coleman-Jensen, A., Nord, M., An- drews, M., & Carlson, S.), 5.7% of households experienced very low food security in 2011, meaning food intake of some household members was reduced and normal eating patterns were disrupted at times due to limited resources. (You can see the report summary on the 6:8 Website.) And here in Sauk Prairie, our school admin- istrators, teachers, the homeless coordinator, and social workers have identified 83 families in need of assistance with food. YOU HAVE RESPONDED!!!!! 83 Bags of food went home for Thanksgiving Break. $5 of food from Second Harvest, a squash from Green Thumb, voucher for 1.5 lbs of meat from Wyttenbach Meats, 5 bags of Kids Against Hunger Food (rice mixture), and a $20 voucher for fruit, veggies, meat, dairy, or bread products from Sentry, Pig, or Kwik Trip. Your generosity is amazing as each family was sponsored for $25. 68 Families are sponsored for the entire year and will receive similar bags of food at Christmas & Spring Breaks, and at the beginning of summer. We hope to receive sponsorships for the last 15 families for the 3 remaining breaks. Susan Baumann-Duran (SP Schools Homeless Coordinator) said in a thank you note after Thanksgiving “I couldn’t do my job without all the help I receive from 6:8 donors.” You are making an impact!!! 6:8 sends home more than food too. We send home recipes to use with the food and invitations to other classes and service opportunities. For Thanksgiving, all of the families were invited to our Squash Making Party on Dec 12 (see p 3 for details) where anyone can share expertise and/or learn how to make squash to take home. MadCAAP HS Mission Trip Leadership Team

The 2013 Seniors have been meeting since October, processing their past 6:8 Mission Trip experiences, reading through evals from 2012, searching the Bible for ideas, and listening to music to inspire those who will serve in Mississippi next summer. They are dedi-cated to making MT2013 a life-changing experience

for all who participate. These seniors will do skits, share personal testimonies, and help lead activities, work teams, and prayer during the trip. They are working hard to plan the theme, T-shirt, and fun activities for the trip and meetings. John and Sarah are inspired by their excite-ment, faith, and dedication and can not wait to see what the Holy Spirit will continue to do in and through them!

Some of the 2013 Leadership Team enjoys a meal together before a planning meeting.
