Earth Day

We celebrated Earth Day in my city last week. The idea of this special day

began in the 1960s when life was very different. Few people talked, or even

1_____________, about the environment . Most people had no idea how dirty

our air and water were. This attitude 2_____________Gaylord Nelson, who was

a senator in the US government, and he had an idea. If people around the world

knew the planet was in danger, they might work harder to save it, so he just

needed to get their attention. The first Earth Day was just in the United States

In my town, last Saturday afternoon lots of people rode their bikes from the

park, around the town together and back to the park, taking as much time as

is and how much pollution it 4_____________. The idea was to make people

think about how much they use cars. In other places, people collected plastic

I go to Swan School. It’s a great school, because we really study hard and we can

also have fun while learning.What school do you go to? What is it like?

My favourite subject is music. I’m really musical and I love playing the guitar. My

mum says I will become a famous musician, but I’m not that sure. What I’m certain

about is that I love it! And even though I may not be great at it, I enjoy myself a lot!

In my free time, I usually meet my friends at the club to do all kind of sports. The

one I like most is tennis, so I’m taking tennis lessons to improve my performance.

My aunt has recently given a me a parrot and it doesn’t stop talking! Also, it has a
