One of the great spiritual laws in the bi- ble is the law of sowing and reaping. You know that law that your mum or your dad often yelled at you when you did something that they didn’t agree with, “if you do that Scotty you going to reap a whole lot of pain.” It’s a spiritual law that over the years has caused a whole lot of controversy in the church due to over the top prosperity teaching and conservative poverty teaching. One group believes in the abundance of God and that if you give $5 in the offering God is obliged to multiply that back into your bank account by a multiplication of 100. The other believes that God created us to be poverty stricken and that to be a true Christian you should not have an- ything and walk around in the same clothes for a year. Wow it is so attractive isn’t it, where’s the form sign me up! Okay, I’m being a bit facetious, but one of the problems we face in the Christian community is that if someone is a bit radical and it doesn’t gel with our way of thinking we throw out the baby with the bath water and we rob ourselves of not only the blessing of God but also the possible abundant plan and future that God has for us as an individual and also as a church. Side Note: For there to be so much con- troversy over it there must be something Significance We plant the seed. Our reward is according to our labour We water with our tears of prayer and the teaching & living out of the Word. Our reward is according to our labour God makes it grow according to His purposes. He alone can do this God protects and makes it prosper.. We rejoice as we do our part with God and for God. about it that agitates Satan so much that he would try to stir up so much trouble. Now, if we go back into the book of Genesis, the first chapter we will find God speaking creation into being. The bible tells us that there was chaos going on and so God spoke and brought order to everything. He spoke and there was light, He spoke and there was land and so on... Eve- rything was done in such an order that the next thing that was created would survive. Can you imagine if God had of said “My first creation is going to be wheat”, and He looked all around for somewhere to plant the wheat only to remember from nature class that wheat needs some dirt and a bit of sunlight, “Whoops light first and then some dirt.” God does, lives, moves with purpose, everything in its right place. And here is the point. When God gets up to creating the plants, the animals and humans for each one He says multiply. We were created to be fruitful, to mul- tiply ourselves, not just in the physi- cal sense but also in who we are. Our ideas, our passions, our desires, our beliefs. If we are not this way inclined then we are failing to carry out one of the greatest commands in the bible and that is to multiply. What is it that we should be accom- plishing in this church and individu- ally? We should be sowing seed and reaping a harvest. It is the right thing to do. It’s in God’s order. What is part of our vision for this church? To give birth to a new Church. This is the natural order of things, this is the way God intended for the church to be, that it would not just become an enclave for people to settle down in. (check out the great commission Matt 28) God in- tended every church to grow to ma- turity and then multiply, give of its self and create new life. Now I don’t know the whole history of our church but I have to ask the question, have we ever given birth, have we multi- plied. If we have praise God, but if we truly haven’t then we are barren. Good news though. I read in the bi- ble that God has a way of taking a really old, barren, wrinkly thing and making it fruitful. We may be old, but God is not done with us yet. Will you pray that God would give us wisdom in how and when this is to be done. For His Glory alone. This is exciting. Amen. The Salvation Army Floreat

Even though the first hour of eachday is hectic, when socks are lost, toast is burned, tempers are short &my children are so loud, thank youLord for my family. There are manywho are lonely.

Even though the breakfast tablenever looks like the picture inmagazines & the menu is at timesunbalanced, thank you Lord for thefood we have. There are many whoare hungry.

Even though the routine of my joboften is monotonous, thank you Lordfor the opportunity to work andprovide for my family. There aremany who have no job.
