PREVENTING FALSE ALARMS
Self Diagnostics
Each detector in the 700 seriescon- tinually monitors its ownsensitivity and operationalstatus. Once a day, it performsa full diagnostic test whichincludes dynamically testing thesensing chamber and internalelectronics. If a detector driftsout of its sensitivity range orfails internal diagnostics, theyellow trouble LED will indicate.
Background drift is dailycompensated to maintain theoriginally calibrated sensitivity.The thresholds are not compensatedbeyond EN 54 limits for sensitivity.A failure of the sensing chamberis reported back per zone to theFP 800 series panels.
MAINTENANCE FRIENDLY
Sensitivity level test mode
The photoelectric detectorincludes a sensitivity test modethat is activated by holding amagnet near the integral reedswitch. This initiates the selfdiagnostic routine and providesvisual indication if service isrequired.This test mode allows fieldsensitivity testing without therequirement for external meters.
Field cleaning and service
The photoelectric sensing chamberunsnaps from the detector foreasy field cleaning and service.Once a year (or more in dustyenvironments), one should openthe detector cover, snap off andthrow away the optical chamber.Vacuum and/or filtered com-pressed air can be used to removedirt from the optical base. Thensnap a new optical chamber backin place and re-check the sensi-tivity.
THE RIGHT DETECTOR FOR THE RIGHT JOB
The 700 Series comprises a vastrange of sensors : optical and heatsensor. The detectors are alsoavailable with onboard C/O relay.
For a truly fast and broad spec-trum detection, there is themulticriteria optical/heat sensor.The interaction of both thesmoke and heat algorithms ensurea quick response to both flamingand smouldering fires.
The universal bases are availablein 2 sizes to suit your applica-tion. All bases are provided withan integral locking tab for extrasecurity reasons if required.They are also equipped with ashorting bar between IN and OUTwhich opens when the head isinstalled and can be manuallyrestored when removing the head.
