Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise Page | 1 Our first evening meeting with partners this year has come and gone and I am sure that those who attended would attest that it was a great evening of fellowship. I will admit that having our outgoing GSE team there to show us the presentation they will be giving in Taiwan next year was an absolute bonus so thanks must go to them for agreeing to do this for us. The venue, Cafe va Bene on the corner or Gorge and Lower Nth East roads provided us with a comfy function room which we soon made our own with our banner and other Rotary regalia. After kicking the meeting off we soon had entrees on the table which were delicious pizza breads similar to a bruschetta. Entree was followed by a small presentation to our clubs Honorary Members for 2012-2013, Robyn Holcroft, Leonie Dew, Gary Lockwood and Mayor Simon Brewer. We presented them each with a certificate of appreciation, recognizing their efforts and contributions in front of present members and partners. Main course was next and I am sure nobody was left feeling hungry after these tasty dishes! The GSE team followed mains with a slick presentation which they will be giving to the clubs they visit in Taiwan. The presentation was one which showcased the best of South Australia and also gave us an insight of each member. This year’s 9520 team consists of: Tony Lagozzino, the team leader, Electrical Contractor, member of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown. Simone Mazengarb: On Line Journalist, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise. Jonathon Robran: Development Manager, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Norwood. Sabrina Koetsier: Medical Scientist, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge. Shane Roberts: Marine Biologist, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Campbelltown. After a few questions, some recommendations and much praise for their efforts Lindsay Davis got up and surprised his wife Carol with a Paul Harris Fellow so congratulations Carol and well done Lindsay!! This moved us into our heads and tails game which was won by our newest Paul Harris Fellow Carol who won a nice bottle of red, and our lucky door prize which was won by GSE Team Leader Tony Lagozzino. Last minute stand in Sergeant Mina made a record $86 dollars in fines with $27 of this coming from her meal surcharge. She was not afraid to get some coin from all and sundry so well done Mina and thanks to all for their misfortune and muck ups.

Our first evening meeting with partners this year has come and gone and I am sure that those who attended

would attest that it was a great evening of fellowship. I will admit that having our outgoing GSE team there

to show us the presentation they will be giving in Taiwan next year was an absolute bonus so thanks must go

to them for agreeing to do this for us.

The venue, Cafe va Bene on the corner or Gorge and Lower Nth East roads provided us with a comfy

function room which we soon made our own with our banner and other Rotary regalia. After kicking the

meeting off we soon had entrees on the table which were delicious pizza breads similar to a bruschetta.

Entree was followed by a small presentation to our clubs Honorary Members for 2012-2013, Robyn

Holcroft, Leonie Dew, Gary Lockwood and Mayor Simon Brewer. We presented them each with a

certificate of appreciation, recognizing their efforts and contributions in front of present members and

partners.

Main course was next and I am sure nobody was left feeling hungry after these tasty dishes! The GSE team

followed mains with a slick presentation which they will be giving to the clubs they visit in Taiwan. The

presentation was one which showcased the best of South Australia and also gave us an insight of each

member. This year’s 9520 team consists of:

Tony Lagozzino, the team leader, Electrical Contractor, member of the Rotary Club of Campbelltown.

After a few questions, some recommendations and much praise for their efforts Lindsay Davis got up and

surprised his wife Carol with a Paul Harris Fellow so congratulations Carol and well done Lindsay!! This

moved us into our heads and tails game which was won by our newest Paul Harris Fellow Carol who won a

nice bottle of red, and our lucky door prize which was won by GSE Team Leader Tony Lagozzino. Last

minute stand in Sergeant Mina made a record $86 dollars in fines with $27 of this coming from her meal

surcharge. She was not afraid to get some coin from all and sundry so well done Mina and thanks to all for

their misfortune and muck ups.

I will close by thanking all members and partners who came along as it was an enjoyable evening; one I

would love to replicate at some time in the New Year. I hope you all had a fun filled meeting and wish the

GSE Team good luck with their travels to Taiwan in February-March next year. See you all in a few weeks, as

I am off to Newcastle with work. GREG

The Rotary movement was founded in February 1905, by Paul Harris, a lawyer from Chicago, who recognised

the potential of an association of like-minded professional and business people who could meet and share

common interests on a regular basis. In 1957, the Rotary Foundation launched the Paul Harris Fellowship in

memory of the founder and as an expression of appreciation for those who have contributed to the

Foundation's humanitarian and educational programs.

A contribution of US $1,000.00 is made to the Rotary Foundation in the name of each individual to be

honoured – providing an opportunity to do even more good in the world through the Rotary Foundation

programs such as the Group Study Exchange, eradicating polio, promoting peace and conflict resolution, and

supporting health, vocational and education projects.

Members of the Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise are active supporters of the Rotary Foundation with personal

giving, a club program and contributions through the footy tipping competition. As a result of sustained

giving, Lindsay Davis was able to recognise his wife Carol Davis as a Paul Harris Fellow and make the

announcement to a surprised Carol at Tuesday evening’s Club meeting following the current GSE Team’s

presentation.

Lindsay paid tribute to the support that he receives from Carol in family, life and Rotary – and acknowledged

the Rotary Foundation named her a Paul Harris Fellow “in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance

given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world”.

Bronwyn, for being the last to arrive.

All of the Port Supporters, who seemed to have congregated at the bottom corner of the table

(good to see them out socialising now that the footy season is over).

Graham and Robyn, for Robyn being overheard saying 'Oh no Graham' and 'not now Graham' at

the Jersey Boys concert the other night (we think and hope it had something to do with singing).

Tash, for having issues with wind at the weekend (apparently her gazebo blew over at the market).

Lindsay, for being a dobber and pointing out too many fines.

Carol, for spilling Mina's drink and

• for kissing Tony from the GSE team at least 6 times at the start of the night

• and for upsetting the balance of the market till on Sunday. Phew!

Greg, for calling Mina, 'Mona' in a text today

• and for not letting Carol introduce the GSE team tonight.

Christine, for not coming out of hibernation to attend our morning meetings, even though it is

getting warmer.

Julie and Ian, for getting their 3 children to paint their house whilst visiting from various places

around the world. That’s extreme organisation.

Susan, for swearing at the size of her schnitzel!

Lindsay’s cross fine the GSE team for being the GST (Group Study Taiwan) team, which means they

have to pay some money as part of a tax?

There was also $1 donated to the fines pot from each attendee a sort of $30 cover charge.

Total Fines: $83

2003 - Queensland adopts maroon as its official state colour.

1997 – The Lion King, a stage show adaption of the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name

opened on Broadway.

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve
