The new owner, choosing to remain anonymous, invited a random group of townspeople to a special pre-grand opening dinner party in the Majestic Ballroom of the hotel. The guests arrived – all curious as to why they were selected to be part of this eclectic group of party guests. Ignoring the mysterious events that brought them to the Manor, the guests decided to settle in and enjoy the party. During the cocktail hour, the guests mingled and got to know each other while pondering on the ice- breaking riddle challenge given to them. After the guests loosened up, they engaged in a light-hearted game of ‘How’d I Die?’ The owner, still remaining a mystery, had a delicious dinner served to the guests while in small groups; they underwent a challenging ‘Mystery Scramble’ competition. Then, to everyone’s horror, a dead body that had been murdered in another room of the hotel was delivered to the ballroom! The guests rallied together in an intense investigation to figure out whodunit, the location of the crime, the motive, and murder weapon! The guests took a break from the investigation and joined in on an elusive game of ‘Catch me if you can.’ The guests took turns accusing who they believed whodunit and their location, motive and weapon in front of the group. Then, one by one, the guests unveiled their involvement, if any, with the murder and to everyone’s shock…the murderer confessed! The guests topped off their exciting night of sleuthing with a final ‘Mysterious Charade Challenge.’ Overall, the night was an exciting, competitive and challenging success! The Anonville Manor should prove to be an overwhelming success with the Anonville townspeople and tourist alike this time around…as long as the ghosts behave, that is.

HOW TO PLAY A MURDER MYSTERY GUEST INSTRUCTIONS

Professional actors are great for mysteries but do not worry because you do not have to be a good actor – or an actor at all – to play a murder mystery! The only quality that you need to possess is the ability to have a blast!

The mystery party is separated into three rounds. During the party, you will be handed an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The clues will provide everything that you will need to solve the mystery. However, during the investigation segment of the game, you will need to ask the right questions and pay close attention to other guests’ clues to be able to get the whole picture of what has happened.

FULL INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PURCHASED

GAME There are some characters that are designed to be played more reserved than other characters that should be played more boisterous. Feel free to play your role however you feel comfortable. Feel free to embellish your character’s personality if you would like. However, if you are feeling more reserved tonight, you can opt to allow the other characters to approach you or you can simply listen in on others’ conversations to get your information. Not everyone needs to or should have the spotlight!

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HOST

Thank you for purchasing ‘Murder at Anonville Manor: A Dinner Party to Die for’ game from mymysteryparty.com! This mystery is a light-hearted and moderate sleuthing mystery that allows you and your guests to step into a different character while trying to solve the entertaining and slightly challenging mystery. The party can be a huge success as long as you and your guests relax and let the mystery unravel during each round.

FULL INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PURCHASED GAME

This mystery comes with 15 written characters. Only 8 of these characters are required with the other 7+ being optional characters. If you do not have guests for these 7 characters, simply omit the clues of these guests and any references to these characters in other clues. Additional duplicate characters (5+) can be added as reporters and additional copies of this character (Tele N. Ewe) need to be made for all added characters. For each round, give these duplicate players the same clues – but give them a different name if you would like – or put them all on the same team and give them one set of clues to share and they can work as a unit during the mystery. If you need to have unique characters added, go to http://www.mymysteryparty.com/adchcuno.html to order them at an additional fee per character.

You will need to gather AND PREPARE the following items in advance of the game:

FULL INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PURCHASED GAME

The game is organized into four rounds and is structured as follows: PRE-GAME STARTERS: these pre-game starters are to be delivered to each guest that has RSVP’d about a week before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game starters are optional and do not alter the mystery, and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These clues are not vital to solving the mystery. They appear as invitations as if the players are the actual characters. These should not be used as the party invitations, however. *We have free, printable invitations available on the MyMysteryParty.com site. Go to the item page and there is a link in the middle of the page or scroll to the bottom of the page to download them. COCKTAIL HOUR / ROUND ONE: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. Serve cocktails and appetizers. Make sure the ‘Guest Instructions’ and the ‘List of Characters’ without the ‘required / optional’ designations on

them are available for your guests to read when they arrive. *If this game is for teens, omit the cocktails and call it the APPETIZER HOUR. DINNER HOUR / ROUND TWO: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner to your guests. Note: you do NOT have to serve dinner, this is only suggested and the instructions tell you ‘when’ to serve it and what to do around the time you serve it. You also do not have to serve dessert – again, it is only a suggestion. You can simply skip both without a problem and just serve snacks/appetizers the entire time DESSERT, COFFEE AND SOLUTIONS: Deliver these clues with coffee (hot chocolate for teens) and dessert. .

OPTIONAL PRE-GAME ROUND Host Instructions: Assign your guests to the character that suits their personality the best! Before the party, encourage your invited guests to view this mystery on the guest site www.yourmysteryparty.com/anonville website or use the free printable My Mystery Party invitations as they have the character descriptions included. Print the starters (the fake invites to the manor &/or the pre-game task sheets) and send them to your guests via snail mail - USPS.

Hand them to your guests at any time before the party if you know you’ll see them (i.e. fellow students, colleagues, neighbors, etc.) Or, make some delivery rounds in your car. Wear your party costume during the delivery - why not?

You can hand these to your guests as they arrive before you give out the round one envelopes.

ROUND ONE – COCKTAILS AND APPETIZER HOUR Host Instructions: Round one – cocktail hour begins as the guests arrive - for teen groups - it’s just an appetizer hour. DÉCOR: Create an old haunted hotel ballroom ambiance with classical music playing softly, low level lighting and formal, Gothic or Victorian décor in the party room. Optional: make a DVD of pictures of you and your guests to play like a slideshow during your party on the television (if there is one in the room). If you’re good at ‘Adobe Photoshop’ - why not make some of your guests’ pictures into their designated character’s environments? For example, Photoshop the guests’ face that is playing the role of Professor Newton into a picture of a professor teaching class at a university. You can decorate this as elaborate as you wish by creating an authentic ‘entrance’ to your home with a sign that says ‘Anonville Manor’ or simply throw a few cob webs around your living area.

GAME AWARDS CEREMONY: You can make your own award certificates, buy trophies, etc. and have a fun final awards ceremony at the end. You can award the one person who sleuthed the mystery the best, the best costume, the best actor, etc! There might be more than one person who guesses the mystery right but there will be typically be one person who ‘stands out’ among the rest as being a top investigator. Or, you might elect to award each person who gets it right – it is totally up to you as the host. There are many award certificates available for download at the My Mystery Party prop emporium.

PRE GAME STARTERS: These are not invitations, but rather you send these to your guests that have RSVP’d along with the task sheets (optional) to build pre-game excitement. This round is

optional. Make additional copies for any duplicate players in the game.

OPTIONAL PRE-GAME TASKS!

CHARACTER NAME IS HERE OPTIONAL - for some pre-party fun, you can contact (email, phone, etc.) the following guests in the week leading up to the party. If any of the following guests are not playing the game, simply disregard the clue. Contact the guest playing London Wilton and tell her that your appointment book is completely free next Tuesday if she would like to make an appointment! (Contact info:___________________________________________________________________________________) Contact the guest playing Principal Amethyst and tell her that your little sister is going to be at Anonville High School next year and for her to be nice to her or you will stop doing her hair! (Contact info:___________________________________________________________________________________) Please note: either contacting the guests above or deciding to skip these tasks will not alter the mystery or anyone's ability to solve the mystery in anyway. However, contacting other guests will lead to excitement about the party and will encourage other guests to read about the other characters and be prepared for an exciting mystery party!

ROUND ONE CLUE CARDS: cut out, stuff into envelopes and label with the appropriate round and character . Handing the clue envelopes to the guests will start round one.

CHARACTER NAME IS HERE - ROUND ONE The anonymous host of this dinner party would like for you to engage in a FUN ICE-BREAKER - SOLVE THE FOLLOWING RIDDLE AND THEN MINGLE WITH THE OTHER GUESTS TO FIND YOUR MATCH! A match is two different riddle answers that go “hand in

hand!’ Example: the words ‘bread’ and ‘stick’ are a match because they go together, but ‘bread’ and ‘bread’ are not a match – they are identical terms, however ‘bred’ and ‘bread’ would be a match because they are two words that are spoken identically, but spelled

differently…. HAVE FUN! Sometimes, a big part of me is open and sometimes it is closed. But either way, I’ll affect your nose.

Some think I’m pretty and some could care less and when I die, I can make a big mess. What am I?

CLUES TO REVEAL DURING THIS ROUND During this round, mingle with the other guests to discuss the following with whomever you choose. If a character is mentioned but is not playing the game, disregard their clues.

Tell everyone that London Wilton is so annoying because she buys her way into all of your golf tournaments and stands in the front row and talks on her Blackberry phone and distracts you. Golf tournaments are not social events!

Tell Ms. Shugga Ann Flower that her cupcakes are awesome and you heard she might be closing her bakery.

PERSONAL INFORMATION (You can conceal these clues from the other guests) You are happily married for over ten years. Yeah! Go you! You are shy and reserved. Don’t forget you speak with a sultry Spanish accent and you need to impersonate a cougar whenever the

mood strikes you…at least that’s what your agent wants you to do. You paid off the Mayor to change the zoning so London Wilton couldn’t build a hotel overlooking the Anonville Golf Club private

golf course. You are a member and it is a quiet golf club and you don’t want a bunch of tourists making noise and watching you. You know that people would stay at London’s hotel because you are a famous professional golfer. Annoying!

During the mystery, your character must be honest and not make up any potentially mystery-altering clues in addition to those provided to you. You do not, however, have to share the clues that you collect with other guests.

ROUND TWO CLUE CARDS: Cut out and slip these clues into sealed and labeled (i.e. round two, character name) envelopes and hand to your guests after the ‘Mystery Scramble Challenge’ to officially begin round two.

CHARACTER NAME IS HERE – ROUND TWO PRE-MURDER:

You should try to build up your dwindling clientele with the guests at the party. Try to market your hairstyle to the other guests and fill up your appointment book next week!

Why do you think Sam the butcher hates London Wilton so much? You should find out why. Maybe you can get him in for a manicure at your salon to make him forget about it. You don’t think people should live with hate.

POST-MURDER: Your clue of the murder location is as follows: to find out where the victim was murdered, you will need to know

that The Library is not in the SW corner. Try asking other guests for more clues to narrow this down and figure it out.

You were in The Foyer when the murder occurred. You noticed that there was a switchblade on the floor in The Foyer. This might be a good murder weapon. Why

don’t you ask the other guests about their theories on potential murder weapons? PERSONAL INFORMATION: (This information can be concealed from the other guests.)

If you were to murder anyone, you would definitely use a pair of scissors.

ROUND three solutions: Cut out and slip these cards into sealed and labeled (i.e. round three, character name) envelopes and hand to your guests after the accusations have been made. If the expansion pack players are playing this game – they will read their solutions first prior to the main game characters. Switch out Professor Newton’s solution card with the new one in the expansion pack kit to reflect a new order to read the solutions. (She will no longer be ‘first’ to read her solution.)

give you the band and name of the song:

I REMEMBER ALL MY LIFE RAINING DOWN AS COLD AS ICE. SHADOWS OF A MAN, A FACE THROUGH A WINDOW CRYIN' IN THE NIGHT,

THE NIGHT GOES INTO MORNING JUST ANOTHER DAY; HAPPY PEOPLE PASS MY WAY. LOOKING IN THEIR EYES, I SEE A MEMORY. I NEVER REALIZED HOW HAPPY YOU MADE ME.
