It was great to back at the club after a few weeks in Newcastle so first up I must thank those who filled in for
me. What a site to come back to…..plenty of members faces and also lots of guests as we had a full quota to
fit into our hour. First up was to present our GSE representative Simone Mazengarb her representative
jacket we hope she wears with pride in Taiwan when she heads there in 2013. I am sure she and the team
will do us all proud, and as we saw at our evening meeting a few weeks back they really know how to sell the
best of our state and country.

After another fabulous meal (thanks Gary and Leonie) we had our RYLA representatives Tyler Lawrence and
Wayne Ng show us why we support these kids through this program. The enthusiasm they brought back
with them from their RYLA experience was evident in the presentation they gave us. Tyler got the ball rolling
with a quick BIO; he is a Trooper in the Army Reserves and studies Mechanical Engineering where he was
recently part of a team that built a race car they are taking to Melbourne for a competition. Wayne was next,
he has only been in Australia a few years and is studying Applied Finance from which he hopes to one day
become an entrepreneur.
They took us through their RYLA experience where they listened and learnt from speakers who spoke on:
• Public Speaking
• Inspiration
• Listening Skills
• Conflict Resolution
• Leadership
• Influencing People
• Youth Affairs
From all this, some interactive workshops and plenty of fun and games our 2 lads said they really got 3 things
from their experience:
1. Confidence
2. Friendships
3. Knowledge
Thanks boys, we all really enjoyed the presentation but more than this enjoyed seeing what you got from
this awesome experience.

Lastly on our full schedule we had a past NYSF participant Kaitlan Gleeson get up and let us know where she
is heading after attending another extraordinary program the National Youth Science Forum. Here is a girl
who when she graduates this year plans to head to Melbourne to continue her tertiary studies in
science….another great success from another great youth program.
A quick reminder, on Sunday December 16th we are having a Christmas social get together at Nightingale
Park. Bring some food and drinks and enjoy an afternoon of fellowship. Fun starts at 4pm, partners and
family are invited and we ask that everyone attending (members and family) bring a small $5-$10 gift to put
under the tree as we will be doing Chris Cringle with a twist (sergeants orders). This way everyone attending
will get a pressie. See you all Tuesday.
Fines This Week - $27.50

Thought for The Day 1
Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true.
Thought for The Day 2
To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer.

Conference 25 – 28 April 2013
The Rotary District Conference is a great opportunity to:
Listen to great guest speakers on topical subjects
Learn more about Rotary and the clubs in our district
Catch up with old friends and make new ones
Spend time with your fellow club members in a more social setting
Get inspired to do great things!
We are very lucky that the 2013 Conference will be held relatively close by and I encourage all club members
to attend. Accommodation in the Barossa will be in great demand and short supply, so will need to be
booked quickly.
I will be booking accommodation for our club and if you would like to be included please let me know as
soon as possible.
See attachment with your email.
Thank you
Carol McKenzie

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster
The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve
society.
The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.
The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.
The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary
…we give thanks.
