Prerequisites
Make sure your system meets the following requirements.
Minimum Technical Requirements
Before installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client, ensure the client workstation conforms to the published Minimum Technical Requirements (MTRs) for the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Development Client. Some of the MTRs that must be met before installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client are:
• Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.71
• Microsoft Visual Studio.Net 2003
MTRs can be found on the Oracle|PeopleSoft Customer Connection website.
Miscellaneous
Verify that all previous releases of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne have been completely uninstalled before installing the EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client.

Downloading the 8.12 Standalone Client from the Oracle E-Delivery Website
Complete the instructions in this chapter if you are downloading the EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client software from the Oracle E-Delivery web site (http://edelivery.oracle.com). If you are installing the EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client from DVD or a network share location, skip to the following chapter: Installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone Client.
► To download the 8.12 standalone client from the Oracle E-Delivery website
1. On your client machine, create a temporary local folder called: Standalone_8.12

2. Open the E-Delivery web site, and enter the following values:

3. Click Go to display the results.
4. In the Results grid, select the radio button for this item: JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Applications/8.96 Tools with Technology Foundations/8.97 Tools Media Pack for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
5. Scroll to the bottom of the display results and click the Continue button.
6. In the display results, locate these items: JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone with 8.97 (Part 1 of 2)
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone with 8.97 (Part 2 of 2)
7. Click the Download button for Part 1 of 2 of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone.
8. When prompted, click the Save button.
9. Save the .zip file to the temporary folder created in the first step.
10. After you finish downloading Part 1 of 2, repeat the save process for Part 2 of 2 of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone.

11. After you finish downloading Part 2 of 2, navigate to the temporary folder and double click the first .zip file.
12. When prompted, extract the contents of this file into the root of the temporary folder you created in the first step (Standalone_8.12).
13. When the process is complete, extract the remaining .zip file.
All files necessary to perform the EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client installation now reside in the temporary folder (in this example, Standalone_8.12).

Installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone Client
Once your system meets the minimum requirements, complete these tasks to install the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client.
► To install the base components of the standalone client
1. Launch InstallManager.exe from the root of DVD folder, or if you downloaded the software from the Oracle E-Delivery site, launch the file from the Standalone_8.12 folder.
2. Click the link to EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone Base Components.

3. Click Next.
4. Highlight the appropriate language and click Next to accept the license agreement.

5. Select DEMO and click Next.
6. Select Development and click Finish.
Note: There may be long periods during which the status bar does not change. This is a normal part of the installation process.

7. Click Next on the message regarding missing JDBC drivers.
The required JDBC drivers will be applied manually after completing the installation of the Standalone Data Components.
8. Click Next on the message regarding the Java compiler installation.
The required JDK will be installed manually after loading the Standalone Data Components.

9. Click OK to finish the installation of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client Base Components.
10. Copy the jdbj.ini file from the BaseComponents\Client directory to the following two locations: C:\E812\system\OC4J\j2ee\home\applications\webclient.ear\ webclient\WEB-INF\classes
C:\E812\DEMO\INI\SBF
Note: If the jdbj.ini file already exists in the WEB-INF\classes directory, or the INI\SBF directory, replace the existing file with the file in the BaseComponents\Client directory.

► To install the data components of the standalone client
1. Launch InstallManager.exe from the root of the DVD, or if you downloaded the software from the Oracle E-Delivery site, launch the file from the Standalone_8.12 folder.
2. Click the link for EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone Data Components.

3. Click Next.

Post Installation Tasks
After installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client, you must perform the following post installation tasks, which includes installing third-party software:
• Create the OBDC Data Source.
• Validate the jbdj.ini and jde.ini settings.
• Apply the required JDBC drivers.
You must install the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC SP2 or higher, which may be downloaded directly from Microsoft
• Validate the JDBC drivers setting in the registry.
• Install the required JDK, which may be downloaded directly from Sun Microsystems.

Creating the EnterpriseOne ODBC Data Source
You must set up EnterpriseOne Local as an ODBC data source on your machine so that you can download planner database packages.
Note: If you have a ODBC data source named EnterpriseOne Local which already exists, it must be defined in the same manner as described below. If it has been previously defined with different values, please remove it and create a new ODBC DSN based on the steps below.
► To create the EnterpriseOne OBDC Data Source
1. From Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Data Sources (ODBC).
2. Choose the System DSN tab.
3. Click Add.
4. On Create New Data Source, choose SQL Server and then click Finish.

5. On Create a New Data Source to SQL Server, complete the following fields:
Name: EnterpriseOne Local
Caution: The data source names are case-sensitive.
Description: EnterpriseOne Local
Server: (local)\JDELocal

6. Click Next.
7. Select the option, With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID, and then click Next.

8. Click Next.
Note: Do not change the default database.
Note: The default value for the Perform translation for character data box is
checked. Ensure that this box is unchecked before proceeding.

10. On ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup, click Test Data Source, and then click OK.

11. Once the tests are complete, on SQL Server ODBC Data Source Test, click OK.

Validating the JDBJ.INI and JDE.INI Settings
After completing the Standalone Client installation, complete these tasks to validate the JDBJ.ini and JDE.ini parameters. These parameters must be set correctly for the Web Applications to run.
► To validate the jdbj.ini settings
1. Open the jdbj.ini file in a text editor that is located in the following directory: C:\E812\system\OC4J\j2ee\home\applications\webclient.ear\webclient\WEB-INF\classes
2. Verify that the following settings have the specified values and modify them if they do not:
Note: If you must make changes to the jdbj.ini file opened in Step 1 above, be sure to copy that file to the following location as both copies of the jdbj.ini be identical: C:\E812\DEMO\INI\SBF

► To validate the jde.ini settings
1. Navigate to the C:\Windows directory, and open the jde.ini file in a text editor.
Note. If the jde.ini file is not in the C:\Windows directory, search for the file in Windows Explorer.
2. Verify that the following setting has the specified value: [DB System Setting] Database=EnterpriseOne Local
3. Verify that the following setting has the specified value: [LOCALWEB] Spec Datasource=OneWorld Local

Installing the Required JDBC Drivers
After installing the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client, install the appropriate JDBC driver to the client workstation. To complete this task, obtain the required JDBC driver from MicroSoft and copy this application to the client machine. Check with Microsoft for licensing requirements.
► To install the required JDBC drivers
1. On the client workstation, create a directory called \JDBC to use when downloading the required drivers. For example: C:\TEMP\JDBC
2. Under the E1 install location create a folder called \MISC if it doesn’t already exist. For example: C:\E812\MISC
2. Navigate to the MicroSoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
3. On Download Center, scroll to the Download Categories and click the Drivers link.
4. On the Drivers site, locate the link for the SQL Server 2000 Driver (JDBC SP2 or higher).
5. Click the Download button for setup.exe, navigate to the \JDBC directory that you created in step 2, and click Save.
6. Navigate to the C:\Temp\JDBC directory and double-click setup.exe.
7. Click Run, and then click Next.
8. Click the Accept option, and then click Next.
9. Click the Custom option, and then click Next.
10. Click the Change button.
11. Navigate to the folder you created in step 2 and click OK.
12. Click Next, and then click Install.
13. Click Finish.

14. Verify the following drivers exist in the C:\E812\Misc directory: • msbase.jar
• mssqlserver.jar
• msutil.jar

Validating the JDBC Drivers Setting in the Registry
After you have successfully installed the JDBC drivers, you must validate the settings in the registery.
►To validate the JDBC drivers setting in the registry
1. Click Start and choose Run from the drop-down menu, and then type REGEDIT in the Open field.
2. Click OK
3. In the tree structure, locate this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JDEdwards\HTML WebServer
4. Verify the data value for JDBCDrivers is: C:\E812\Misc
5. Exit the application.

Installing the Required JDK
To use the Oracle Application Server with the Standalone Client, you must install the correct version of JDK in a defined directory on the client. To complete this task, you must obtain the required JDK from SUN Microsystems and copy this application to the client machine.
Refer to the Minimum Technical Requirements (MTR) page to determine the correct JDK required for this installation. The MTRs can be accessed from the Oracle | PeopleSoft Customer Connection web-site by navigating this path:
Implement, Optimize and Upgrade > Implementation Guide > Supported Platforms > JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
At the time this document was published, the required JDK version is currently 5.0, but the version can change with future updates.
► To install the required JDK
1. On the Standalone client, create two JDK directories in these paths: c:\Temp\JDK
c:\E812\system\JDK
Navigate to this Sun Microsystems website:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp
On the displayed web page select the link JDK 5.0 Update 14 -> Download
2. Review the license agreement and if you choose to accept, select the Accept option to accept the license agreement.
3. Select the link Windows Offline Installation.

4. On File Download -- Security Warning, click Save.
5. On Save As, navigate to a temporary directory on your local drive (for example, c:\Temp) and click Save.
6. The program downloads the JDK to the temporary directory.
Note: Do not download this .exe file into the JDK directory that you created in Step 1. This is because when you extract this file, the file cannot exist in the same directory into which the extraction occurs. In this example, the target extraction directory will be:

7. From Microsoft Windows Explorer, navigate to the temporary directory from Step 7, highlight the downloaded executable, and double click the executable program to run it.
8. If you receive a security warning, select Run.

9. Review Sun’s license agreement and it you accept, select the Accept option and click Next.

10. On the Java 2 SDK InstallShield Wizard, use the browse function to change to this directory that you created in Step 1: c:\Temp\JDK
Note: Do not select the same folder where the install executable is located; the installation destination folder must be different.

11. On Custom Setup, accept all other default values and click Next. Note: The installation process takes several minutes.

12. On Custom Setup, support for European languages, click Cancel to skip the installation of additional language support, such as J2SE Runtime Environment with Support for European languages.
13. On the prompt verifying that you want to cancel the J2SE Runtime Environment update, click Yes to confirm. The installation begins.

14. On Installation Completed, click Finish.
15. Navigate to this directory: C:\Temp\JDK

16. Highlight these sub-folders: • bin

17. From the Edit menu, select Copy.
18. Navigate to this folder that you created in Step 1: C:\E812\system\JDK
19. From the Edit menu, select Paste.

Obtaining Software Protection Codes (SPC)
Software Protection Codes enable JD Edwards EnterpriseOne customers to use standalone demonstration software. Complete this task to obtain the necessary SPC for the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 Standalone client.
► To obtain Software Protection Codes (SPC)
1. Navigate to the Oracle|PeopleSoft Customer Connection website: http://www.peoplesoft.com/corp/en/support/online_support/spc.jsp
2. On the displayed web page, locate the heading JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Standalone or Demonstration Software Protection Codes, right-click on the link 8.9,8.10,or 8.11 (ZIP:567K) and select Save Target As to download the .zip file to a temporary directory.
3. Navigate to a temporary directory on your local drive and click Save.
The program that will generate SPC for the Standalone client is saved to the temporary directory as a .ZIP file.
4. From Windows Explorer, navigate to the temporary directory and double click the .zip file to open it.
5. Double click the SetupOneWorldB9.exe to launch the Standalone SPC Update program.

9. Launch JD Edwards EnterpriseOne by double clicking activConsole.exe from this directory: C:\E812\system\bin32
Note: Allow sufficient time for all background processes to start before attempting to log in. Even though the login screen appears immediately, wait at least 30 seconds before signing in. Failure to do so may result in security server startup errors.
10. Login to the Standalone client with the user ID DEMO and the password DEMO.

11. Click OK on the Security Violation message.
12. Click the Get Auth button to populate the authorization code fields and complete the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Standalone client install.
