The first-year rep team of seven- and eight-year-old boys went 3-0 in its divi- sion, defeating teams from Milton, W Whitby and North London. The A’s then routed East York 18-1 before dropping a 24-13 decision to North York in the final. Members of the team are Tristan Malboeuf, Andrew Keddy, Elijha Hammill, Thomas Diamandas, Drew Seidel, Wil Yamka, Nathan Pauley , Mark Schmid, Jordan Woods, Carter Dombek, Blake Schriver and Max Lanoue. The team is coached by Francis Malboeuf, Glen Schmid, Nicholas Diamandas, Ryan Seidel and Paul Harbour . k b ll 'f l h R ookieball A's f inalists in St. Thoma s It’s been a successful spring season for A Appleby College’s sports teams. Five Blue Dogs teams recently earned med- als at their respective Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Associations championship tournaments. Appleby’s under-14 girls’ soccer team earned Division 2 gold at the CISAA championships, defeating Richmond Hill’s Holy Trinity 2-0 in the final. The Blue Dogs’ senior boys’ golf team, senior boys’ slow-pitch squad, under-14 boys’ rugby club and senior boys’ rugby team all col- lected silver at CISAA tournaments. “It’s been an exciting season,” said Sharon Creelman, director of athletics at Appleby College. “We are incredibly proud of our teams for their performances.f lb Strong spring f or Appleby sports STEADMAN, M. Beryl Peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Northridge Long-Term Care Centre in Oakville, Ontario. Beryl Steadman passed away at the age of 87. Beryl was born January 19, 1924, in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, and lived most of her life in Sarnia, Ontario where she raised her family but moved to Oakville to be closer to her sons for the last few years. She was predeceased by her parents Ivan Edward (Ted) Henderson and Mary Jane (Jenner) Henderson. Beloved wife of the late W. Murray Steadman (1989). Survived by her sons William (Bill) Steadman of Frankford, Ontario, Robert (Bob) Steadman and his wife Carol Eastwood of Oakville, Ontario, dear grandmother of Mary Steadman of Brighton, England and Katharine Steadman of Toronto, John Steadman and Ian Steadman of Oakville. Also survived by dear Sister Lois Davies of Sarnia, and many nieces and nephews. Ber yl was a life-long member of the United Church, and an active founding member of High Park United Church where she attended for many years, an active member at St. Paul 's United Church, and a wi ll ing vol unteer in church activities. Beryl volunteered for 28 years at Marshall Gowland Manor. Her fine crochet work is enjoyed by friends and family members. Family and friends were received on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Smith Funeral Home with The Rev. Jeff Crittenden of London officiating. Reception followed at The Smith Family Centre.
