Agenda Your logo5. Master-Slave Concept
The Master-Slave Concept is a reusable standardized process and IT solution integrating the enterprise requirements
The global part (Master) is used enterprise-wide as predefined settings for the implementation of local production systems.
All templates reside in a reference system, which can be composed of several physical distributed systems.
Global elements - no changes allowed -
Local elements - full authorization for changes -
Harmonized elements(standard complete / standard partial / harmonized) - some changes allowed -

Agenda Your logo5. Templates in SolMan
There are 3 levels of global vs. local elements at UmicoreGlobal elements on the Global Platform
These elements, like customizing, developments, interfaces, master data, etc., with their respective specification are valid for Umicore globally as an enterprise
Global Business Type elementsThese elements with their respective specification a valid across the Business Type for which it was defined. Valid for all Business Units group under the Business Type. Standard case would be operational requirements.
Local elementsOn regional level
are valid for the region/country only. Main occurrence iswithin the Financial Template for legal or tax requirements.
Only in very exceptional cases this should be the case for operational/logistics requirements
On Business Unit levelare valid across the Business Unit for all plants, DC's, sites, offices, … the whole BU organization
On plant/site levelFollowing Umicore's business and IS vision for harmonization & standardization this should be strictly avoided
