It is the mission of the Department of Corrections to protect the public by operating a safe, secure, humane and efficient corrections system.

The Florida Department of Corrections is responsible for the maintenance of more than 120 correctional facilities, ranging from major institutions to work release centers.

All maintenance positions are subject to State of Florida Career Service classification. Positions within Career Service are entitled to State Retirement and a comprehensive benefits package.
