COME LET US WORSHIP

A warm welcome to each of you as we gather for worship today and a

special welcome to our guests. As we offer God our praise, may you be richly blessed

by God’s gracious Word, Meal and community.

Special Worship Notes and Precautions

Following the latest CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,) those who are

vaccinated are not required to wear masks since currently we are not located in an

area of substantial or high transmission. We will continue to keep chairs that allow for

social distancing in the narthex (lobby) for any vaccinated or unvaccinated persons who

wish to continue to practice social distancing.

At this time, as we continue to be mindful and caring for one another, please:

• use provided hand sanitizer as much as possible (as you enter & leave the

building & in the pews);

• pass the peace from your seat for now. (A wave, bow or fist bump are the safest.

Include a wave to those participating at home.)

• As you come forward for communion, please leave some space between yourself

and any persons in front of you who are from another household.

• Like Jesus, we strive to invite, welcome and include everyone. Thus, practicing

good hospitality, PLEASE do not ask or quiz persons about their mask choice

OR their vaccination status. Wearing a mask or not, we worship our Lord

together with gratitude and joy.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation, your presence and your prayers as

we worship in God’s presence as God’s beloved children.

GOD IS WITH US. Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF THE DAY C: Amen.

WORD

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE “I’m So Glad Jesus Lifted Me” #860

I'm so glad Jesus lifted me. I'm so glad Jesus lifted me.

I'm so glad Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah! Jesus lifted me.

FIRST READING: 1 Kings 8: 22-23, 27-29 22Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly

of Israel, and spread out his hands to heaven. 23He said, "O LORD, God of Israel, there

is no God like you in heaven above or on earth beneath, keeping covenant and steadfast

love for your servants who walk before you with all their heart, 27But will God indeed

dwell on the earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, much less

this house that I have built! 28Regard your servant's prayer and his plea, O LORD my

God, heeding the cry and the prayer that your servant prays to you today; 29that your

eyes may be open night and day toward this house, the place of which you said, 'My

name shall be there,' that you may heed the prayer that your servant prays toward this

place.

A: The Word of the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

SECOND READING Ephesians 2: 17-22; 3: 20-21

Chapter 2 17So he [Christ] came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those

who were near; 18for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19So

then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also

members of the household of God, 20built upon the foundation of the apostles and

prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. 21In him the whole structure is

joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; 22in whom you also are built

together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.

Chapter 3 20Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far

more than all we can ask or imagine, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus

to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

A: The Word of the Lord.

C: Thanks be to God.

THE GOSPEL Matthew 21: 42

P: The Gospel according to St. Matthew, the 4th chapter.

C: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures:

'The stone that the builders rejected

has become the cornerstone;

this was the Lord's doing,

and it is amazing in our eyes'?

P: The Gospel of the Lord.

C: Praise to you, O Christ.

P: The peace of Christ be with you always.

C: And also with you.

P: We offer one another a sign of God’s peace.

(Pass the peace from your seat for now. A wave, bow or fist bump is the safest.

Include a wave to those participating at home. There is hand sanitizer in the pews.)

THE MEAL

THE OFFERING

P: It’s Offering time! C: Praise God! (May God bless what we give and use it to bring wholeness, healing and hope to God's world. Amen.

Thank you for your faithful generosity.)

Page 10: A Celebration of Rededication and Blessing August 1, 2021

10

THE OFFERING PRAYER

A: Jesus, Bread of life, you have set this table with your very self,

and called us to the feast of plenty.

C: Gather what has been sown among us, and strengthen us in this meal.

Make us to be what we receive here, your body for the life of the world. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

P: You are indeed holy, gracious and merciful God;

everything is filled with your glory.

We give you thanks for your promise and presence

which have sustained the faithful in this and every generation.

Above all, we give you thanks for Jesus, born of Mary,

who in word and deed announced your gentle rule of justice, reconciliation and

peace.

On the night he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;

broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for

you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave if or all to drink, saying:

This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people

Page 11: A Celebration of Rededication and Blessing August 1, 2021

11

for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Remembering his command to love one another, his life and death,

his resurrection and his ascension, we pray for his coming again even as we cry:

C: (Repeat after the presider sings it first)

P: Send now, we pray, your Holy Spirit,

that all of your promises may come to us and your whole creation.

Empower us by that same Spirit, to love and forgive

that our lives may anticipate that day when you will make all things new:

C: (Repeat after the presider sings it first)

Page 12: A Celebration of Rededication and Blessing August 1, 2021

12

P: Gather our prayers with those of the apostles, prophets, martyrs,

and all the faithful who have gone before us,

and unite them with the unceasing prayer

of the One who lives in us and in whom we live, Jesus Christ.

C: Amen!

THE LORD’S PRAYER

P: Lord remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray.

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. Amen.

INVITATION TO COMMUNION

P: Christ has set the table with more than enough for all. Come!

C: Thanks be to God.

LITANY OF REDEDICATION (adapted from the litany used at the original dedication of the sanctuary.)

Friends of the Lord, since this house has been built for the manifestation of the grace of

God in Word and Sacraments, let us therefore, in prayer commend this place to our Lord.

O God, Our Father, Creator of heaven and earth, by those favor we have built this house.

To You we dedicate this church.

O Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, our Lord and Savior.

To You we dedicate this church.

Page 17: A Celebration of Rededication and Blessing August 1, 2021

17

O Holy Spirit, Source of life and light, our Sanctifier and comforter;

to You we dedicate this church.

To your glory and honor, O Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;

we dedicate this church.

To the preaching and teaching of Your Holy word, the proclamation of your Law and

Gospel;

we dedicate this church.

To the proper administration of the Holy Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s supper;

we dedicate this church.

As a house of prayer for all who would call upon Your name and worship You in spirit

and in truth;

we dedicate this church.

As a place where sinners may receive comfort and assurance, where people may be turned

to repentance and to faith in you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent,

where saints may be strengthened, your glory revealed, and your power manifested;

we dedicate this church.

As a place where the lambs of the flock of Christ may be fed, where little children may

increase in wisdom and favor with God and humankind, where the young may be taught to

remember their Creator in the days of their youth, where a generation may grow up fit for

citizenship on earth and in heaven;

we dedicate this church.

As a place wherein those who congregate here may be challenged and led to adore, to love

and to serve your son Jesus Christ; to give themselves in love for the welfare of their

neighbors in the world; to seek the means for being responsibly involved in the structures

of society, and to be moved to care for the earth and the universe which you have created;

we dedicate this church. Amen.
