In Gratitude for God’s ! Blessings…..!

!Reg. Coll. 6/17……$6345.!!Jesus met the material needs of his disciples long after his resur-rection. Upon seeing the need his followers suffered, he filled their fishing nets with a great catch. He then fed them materi-ally as well as spiritually. God can fill your net also, all you need do is be a good steward of the gifts he has already given you. Share your gifts with oth-ers and he will richly bless you and your family.!

St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, Utica, NYwww.mountcarmelblessedsacrament.com!

!Thank you to our generous parishion-ers who have made a pledge to the Annual Hope Appeal. If you have not yet respond-

ed to the Hope Appeal, we ask that you prayerfully consider making a pledge to help support the needs of our diocese. For years, your gifts to the Hope Ap-peal have helped thousands of people through the programs and ministries funded by the Hope Appeal. !!As of June 10, we have received pledges/gifts from 90 households out of a possible 1005. They have donated or pledged $13,033.88 which is 35% of our goal of $37,667.65!

!Please Note……!

Envelopes received in memory or in honor of Fathers, will be placed on the altar through the end of June.!

Wise & Otherwise!! by Father Cesta!

!

!A church!goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained

that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for thirty years now” he wrote “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them...so, I think I’m wasting time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.”

This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the de-light of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: “I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32000 meals now. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of these meals. But I do know this… they all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead to-day!”

And the otherwise…..!One Sunday morning, a mother went in to wake her son and tell him it was time to get ready for church, to which he replied, “I’m not going.” “Why Not?” she asked. “I’ll give you two good rea-sons.” he said!. 1.) They don’t like me and 2.) I don’t like them. His mother replied, “I’ll give you two good reasons why you SHOULD go to church1.)You’re 59 years old and 2.) You’re the !pastor!!
