Brampton has a vision for a high quality of community life, a prosperous and diversified economy, excellence in local government and an efficient transportation network.

The City of Brampton has three main trail systems that run north and south throughout the City. They are: Etobicoke Creek Trail that leads to Brampton’s downtown/entertainment hub, Chinguacousy Trail that highlights Donald M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park and Professor’s Lake Trail featuring Professor’s Lake Park.

Brampton’s pathways set them apart from other communities. They celebrate the City’s heritage and define its character. The trails offer a wide range of experiences both in natural and urban contexts, seamlessly blending with neighbourhoods and natural areas.

trails and pathways etiquetteTrails are a wonderful way to spend a safe, enjoyable day, walking, running, riding or relaxing and taking in the sights. Safety is everyone’s concern. The following is the City of Brampton’s trail code of conduct.

• Pedestrians, wheelchairs, cyclists and in-line skaters may all use the trails. Pedestrians have the right-of-way while on the trail. Always yield to slower traffic.

• Respect trail signage, traffic signs and signals. Always cross at intersections; Cyclists please stop, dismount and walk your bicycle across all roads.

• Travel on the right side of the trail in a single file. When stopping, move to the side to allow others to pass on the left.

• Safety gear is recommended, for example; CSA-approved helmets, lights, reflectors, and bell.

• Pets are to be leashed on the trails. Remember to stoop and scoop. Respect neighbouring landowners by staying off private property.

• All trails have garbage containers for litter and are illuminated. Leave the trail for nature to take its course for our future.

• Where the trails use sidewalks, cyclists must dismount and walk to the next asphalt path.

• Please report any concerns to 905-874-2906.
