Please remember that this is a rigorous college level course , which requires you to commit to creating a college level portfolio of work. Daily attendance is mandatory, as is meeting every deadline established. Each of you should be a rising senior. You should have successfully completed at the minimum, Studio Art (with a grade of B or higher). You should plan to submit the AP portfolio in May. Also be aware of the portfolio reading fee ($93.00) which is payable in February. If for any reason you do not meet all of the aforementioned criteria, you will not be eligible for the college credit, however I will give you high school credit. Upon your return to class in August , you should have completed and have ready for critique and evaluation FIVE (2 of the 5 are required assignments: self-portrait & the artist research assignment). The remaining 3 assignments should be chosen from the list below. You should use FIVE different mediums. These assignments should be portfolio ready, meaning finished to the best of your ability and if needed can be included as part of your AP submission in May. Bring them with you on the first day of class. Recommendations from current AP Art class: Use your sketchbook to create thumbnail sketches prior to beginning a larger piece. Take notes! Glue in reference pictures! Do color studies when needed! Use your sketchbook as your notebook. ****This is especially important for summer assignments. You do not have to buy a new sketchbook…..use one you already have! Be persistent. Research a variety of solutions. Work from life instead of a reference photo when possible.
