A public school offering special instruction and programs not available elsewhere. Magnet schools are designed to attract a more diverse student body from throughout a school district. Like a charter school, a magnet school school has a focus or niche to offer to students (Sugar Hill has Talent and Career Awareness). Unlike a charter school, a magnet school can offer a competitive application process because magnet schools do not receive additional funding with state-mandated restrictions.
The Vision: To implement a school-wide
enrichment model to promote talent development and career awareness. Specifically, we hope to focus on student strengths and interests but tie them to careers.
