  • Brodick

    Brodick Castle, Gardens and Country Park

    The majestic Brodick Castle sits overlooking Brodick Bay, framedby the backdrop of Goatfell. As the ancient seat of the Dukes ofHamilton, Brodick Castle dates back 700 years and houses asuperb collection of paintings, trophies, porcelain and silverware.Surrounding the Castle is one of Scotland's most unforgettablegardens, combining a formal walled garden with a magnificentwoodland garden including towering rhododendrons andmagnolias. Many of the plants were brought back by intrepid planthunters from China, the Himalayas and Burma. In the widerCountry Park there are over 10 miles of trails to explore withspectacular views, beautiful woodlands and dramatic waterygorges. For those keen on wildlife Brodick Castle Gardens andCountry Park are excellent for spotting Arran's native red squirrels,whilst common and grey seals often bask on the rocks in BrodickBay.

    Throughout the year the National Trust for Scotland organisesmany events and guided walks including specialist gardens walkswith the head gardener and wildlife walks with the Ranger Service.
