Approved by the BBA and certified

to the highest standards for strength,

stability and breathability, Limelite

Renovating Plaster and High Impact

Finishing Plaster are ideal for use in a

whole range of restoration and repair

projects. Especially where a high

Limelite is the lightweight, easy to work range of renovation

plasters you can use without having to worry about damp,

mould and trapped moisture.

Because they’re gypsum free, Limelite products work with

the fabric of a building. Letting brick and masonry walls

breathe and providing a high quality, long lasting finish that

protects and performs for years to come.

The essential plaster for restoration and repairs

Older houses rarely feature the levels of insulation and

damp proofing we take for granted today, so damp walls

and brickwork are often a problem.

That’s why Limelite is the clear choice in repair and

restoration projects.

Following treatment with an injected damp proof course,

Limelite will help older, damper properties dry out by

allowing balanced moisture movement through its coating.

The superior workability of Limelite products means

they can be applied to any sound substrate as easily

as conventional gypsum based plasters. They can even

be used on timber and lath walls, which still crop up

in refurbishments after existing plaster layers

have been hacked away.

Limelite Whitewall One Coat Plaster

• Pre-blended and dry-bagged anhydrite

based plaster

• First class finish and excellent resistance to impact

• Applies like a backing plaster and closes

like a finishing plaster

• Ideal for use with cavity drainage membranes

• Non-combustible to BS476:4.

Limelite’s BBA approved system, consisting

of Renovating Plaster and High Impact Finishing

Plaster, is also an excellent method of repairing

and protecting interior walls in older properties –

particularly in extremely damp conditions

or after a flood.

Preserving living, breathing history in commercial redevelopment

The trend for transforming disused mills and warehouses

into offices and apartments sums up perfectly the value of

traditional architecture in the modern age.

Going hand in hand with the principle of repurposing these

landmark buildings, products such as Limelite Backing Plaster

and Whitewall allow developers to create interiors that are

sympathetic to the building fabric while protecting it from

the effects of damp and mould.

Few buildings dating back to the industrial revolution have

any damp proofing provision, so a breathable plaster coat

is essential to allow moisture to disperse and to reduce

corrosion in embedded metal fixtures such as window frames,

columns and beams.

Limelite Backing Plaster is easier on today’s contractor too,

offering a reduced bulk density that’s easy to work with and

drying within 24 hours, ready to receive a finish.

Limelite Backing Plaster

• Lightweight and easy to use

• Similar properties to 1:1:6 products

• Ready to receive finish after 24 hours

• Good insulation properties compared

to gypsum based plasters

• Contains fibres for reduced

shrinkage and added strength

• Breathable finish and high alkaline

content inhibit corrosion.

Breathable plasters have an important part to play

in creating comfortable, sympathetic spaces in industrial

heritage redevelopment

Limelite’s BBA approved system, consisting of

Renovating Plaster and High Impact Finishing Plaster,

is an excellent method of repairing and protecting

the building fabric in commercial renovations –

particularly when planning rules or conservation

bodies specify an original formulation plaster coat.

Using Limelite in social housing

With much of the UK’s social housing consisting of older stock

or single skin properties, damp and moisture are a persistent

problem when it comes to maintenance and repair.

Using gypsum based products - which don’t allow moisture to

escape - means walls have to be damp proofed and dried out

before any maintenance is undertaken. Adding to the time and

cost for local authorities and the inconvenience for tenants.

Limelite can be applied directly to damp internal walls

immediately. Its breathability allows moisture to escape

and brickwork to dry out naturally. Reducing the risk of

mould and corrosion to metal fixtures within the walls and

cutting project timelines dramatically.

A higher level of protection in flood hit areas

Another important advantage of Limelite over gypsum based

products is its resistance to recurring damp and moisture.

This makes it well suited to properties in flood risk areas,

where immersion will quickly degrade conventional plaster

coatings and, with the recent sharp rise in flood events, create

a costly cycle of restoration and repair.

Limelite helps meet the maintenance challenges of older,

damp properties in the social sector

Limelite Renovating Plaster

Original and best in heritage projects

Buildings like churches, museums and art galleries are prone

to persistent damp because of their age and method of

construction. That makes a moisture balancing wall coating

essential in any lasting restoration work.

Limelite is already used in many such projects across the

UK. Indeed, conservation groups often insist on Limelite

Renovation Plaster as the closest modern equivalent to

the ‘lime-haired’ plasters used in the original construction.

So as well as protecting the fabric of ancient buildings,

Limelite can also help preserve their look and feel for

generations to come.

The Limelite Heritage range

conservation projects. They include cement-free mortars and

grouts specifically developed for controlled strength and the

sympathetic repair of historic buildings.

Traditional building methods at the home of advanced engineering

The James Dyson Building for Engineering at Cambridge

University was opened in May 2016.

Home to research into some of the world’s most advanced

technologies, this hi-tech hub also employs some of today’s

most advanced building methods and indoor environment

management techniques. With one important exception.

The mortar used to bond the blocks that make up its exterior

is Limelite Heritage Hydraulic Lime Mortar (HLM).

Heritage HLM provides long term flexibility and breathability,

allowing joints to accommodate more movement without

flaking or cracking.

Which in turn means fewer movement joints are required,

helping to preserve the clean, contemporary lines of the

architects’ vision.

Sometimes, traditional ways simply can’t be improved on.

Limelite Heritage Hydraulic Lime Mortar

• Breathable finish allows passage of air

and moisture

• Highly workable and easy to use

• Reduced need for expansion joints due

to high flexibility

• Mortar available on demand when supplied in silos

• Good to high resistance from sulphates

• Factory batched and quality controlled.

Flexible Limelite Heritage HLM reduces the need

for movement joints and can be coloured to match the bricks

and blocks surrounding it
