SHAILY ENGINEERING PLASTIC LIMITED

SHAILY is the plastic company which manufactures the plastic domestic product. It was started

in 1987. When Mr. Mike Sanghvi (A plastics technologist with over 20 Years of rich experience

in demanding north American Plastics Industries) started Halol plant to provide service

excellence in plastics Injection Molding. Mr. Laxman Sanghvi a Chartered Accountant and

Lawyer continues to provide financial acumen to the company.

Mr. Hasmukh Shah is the Chairman of the company and hardly needs an introduction. Mr.

Hasmukh Shah (Ex. Chairman & Managing Director of IPCL) has been the guiding spirit behind

plastics age in India and continues to provide direction to the Board of Shaily Engineering

Plastics Limited.

It is a customer based company, which it manufactures that plastic product which the customer

requires so there is no possibility of over production and under production.

The company has divided its plant in five units. That is given below.

UNIT 1:- In this unit the company manufactures the raw material in to the finished or semifinished product from different -2 types of the machines.

There is an automatic machine in which raw material is put after then it is automatically

transferred to another machine named INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE.

This is the machine in which the minimum temperature is 200 degree Celsius to 300 degree

Celsius, in which the raw material melt and take the shape after then it is transferred to the

another machine in which its shape designed, and from which finished or semi finished product

come. So there are various types of the machines for producing the different types or parts of the

product.

RAW MATERIALS USED IN MANUFACTURING THE PRODUCT

Poly Phenylene Sulphide - PPS Poly Phenylene Oxide - PPO PolyOxy Methylene (Modified) - POM Polyamides - Nylon 6, 6/6, 6/12. 11, 12 Poly Carbonate - PC Polyesters - PBT, PET Melamine Polyster - MPF Polyetherimide - PEI Polyurethane - PU Polyethersulphone - PES Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene - ABS

Phenol Formaldehyde - PF Diallyphthallate DAP Poly ether ether ketone PEEK

In this department there is the production house or store room where the raw material as well as

semi finished product is kept so that they can be transferred in to the next unit/department for theassemble work.

It is manufacturing the family model product as spoon, fork etc. And for manufacturing the

items, machines are kept in the horizontal and vertical form in different-2 room.

It is also manufacturing the CAP which is used to keep the medicines/tablet for the child safety.

In this cap a button is used when we press the button then the pocket in which the medicine is

kept, come outside the cap. So it is very helpful for the safety purpose.

The company purchases the raw material from different companies such as ABS, RELIANCE

and the other scarce raw material from the CHINA.

NOTE:- this product (CAP FOR MEDICINE)is made only for the shell pack company situated

in the USA, And the remaining products are made for IKEA, LAKME and exported to various

countries such as JAPAN,USA, CHINA etc.

Capacity of manufacturing the product is 10000 units per shift in a day. In each unit /department

it has its own human resource department.

UNIT SECOND It is also called assembling hall, it is divided in two parts.

In molding A there are 13 machines which are installed in that plant and in molding B 10

machines are installed.

The main work of this machine is to mold the items or give the shape to that product. Trade mark

design /company logo is done by this machine.

Semi finished or finished goods is kept here and then these products are molded / giving the

shape or logo/trade mark design, after then they are assembled and sent to the finishing room for

the packing and other type of the work.

Different type of the machine is used for molding and assembling the product. These machines

are made of high technology, some of which are purchased from LG, YAMAHA (India) and

others from GERMANY, USA etc.

In this machine there is automatic door in which product goes if any fault arises in the product

then there will be a loud alarm and the door will not be open. So it is very helpful and userfriendly to the employees.

UNIT THIRD This is the finishing room in which the product is sent for the packing as well as

for other work related to finishing of the product so that it can be exported.

There are two departments in the company

Technical department In the technical department only engineering graduate people (B-TECH & BE) are working. As it is an engineering company so it is mandatory in the technical

department to have the engineering graduate people.

Non technical department In the non technical department the people of all background(MBA/PGDM, SCIENCE, COMMERCE etc) are working.

NOTE In the technical department 50% of the total employees are working and remaining areworking in the non technical department.

The overall employees of the company are around to 950. In which 50% employees are

permanent and remaining are the contractual.

There are total five plant in the vadodara (GUJARAT) in which three is in the Vadodara andremaining two are in the Halole.

TRAINING OF THE EMPLOYEE For the new employee the training is providedfor 15 days to 20 days, and for entering in the plant there is attendance card and entry card which

we have to show at that time.

The company is working 24 hours and it is closed to Sunday, but in Sunday the official work is

closed and the work of maintenance is not closed.

The monthly sales target of the company is 12 crore so the annual turnover is about to150 crore.

The company is using the BRITISH based software (IQMS) In spite of the ENTERPRIZE

RESOURCE PLANNING (ERP).

SAFETYOF THE EMPLOYEES IN THE COMPANY In the company it ismandatory for every people to wear the helmet and shoes. There is emergency window every

section where the people are working by machinery.

There are different tools & techniques in which if any problem arises then a different type of

sound arises which shows that any serious problem occurs in the plant so we have to go out of

plant for our safety.

It is mandatory for every employee to wear the mask in hand for the safety. There is fire

preventing tools which is used in critical conditions.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Despite earning of money thecompany has its own social responsibility that is given below.

Check up the health of the employees, therefore it has been tie up with several hospitalwhere the employees have to go for their health check up.

It is organizing the general awareness programme for the welfare of the society asopening the school in the rural areas etc.

It is also arranging the other type of programme such as yoga, exercise etc for the welfareof the society.

The company is not producing anything which affects the environment very badly.SUGGESTION

The company should increase the permanent. It should also consider for more safety of the employees by using the latest technology

rather than emergency window or loud alarm system.

It should increase its check point for further reduce the accident. For the expansion of the company, it should marketing the products.

CONCLUSION

SHAILY is an engineering company. It manufactures only plastic domestic product. It is totally exporting company. As it uses the electricity rather than any material for manufacturing the product so it is

pollution free (not fully) company.

It is just manufacturing the product not marketing it
