THE 11:00 ANTHEM TODAY, O Be Joyful in the Lord, was given in loving memory of R. Bruce Jackson, Jr., by his wife, Jean E. Jackson, and by his daughters, Julie Kerr and Broocks Foster, and their husbands. Bruce was a long-time choir member prior to his death on January 1, 2002.
THE FLOWERS IN CHANCEL are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of the life and ministry of Allen Brindisi by the Brindisi family.
THE PEACE AND GLOBAL WITNESS offering will be received next Sunday. 25% will remain at DCPC (local) with the rest helping worldwide. Mark your check ‘peace offering’ or use the special envelopes in the pews. As part of this season of peace, Al Sudduth and Rebecca Clark will travel to Kenya on September 30 and Rosemary Klein and Robert Alexander will go to Nicaragua on October 3.
YOUTH THIS SUNDAY 6th Grade will meet from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the home of Joe & Linda Griffeth, 355 Pine Road, Davidson, for Ping-Pong, Corn Hole, and Fire Pit S’mores! Bring your swimsuits and towels if you’d like to enjoy the hot tub, and we’ll order pizza for dinner. Call the Griffeth’s at 704-892-1669 or 704-650-9511 to RSVP or if you have any questions! 7th Grade will meet from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the home of Greg & Meg O’Brien, 911 Patrick Johnston, Davidson. We’ll enjoy dinner and hangout time together. Please email Catherine Bragg at [email protected] to let her know if you are coming so that we can order food. 8th Grade will not have a Sunday night event because of this weekend’s Confirmation Retreat to Asheville. 9th Grade Come join us for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship at the Tarry home (19822 Callaway Hills Lane, Davidson) from 5-7 p.m. bring $3 to help cover the cost of food and drinks. We’ll have games, highs & lows, and a devotional. 11th & 12th Grades will meet from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the home of Eric & Courtney Davis, 102 LaPorte Lane, Mooresville, for pizza and dogs. STEWARDSHIP DEDICATION SUNDAY October 11. There will be ONE worship service at 11 a.m. with guest preacher John Kuykendall, followed by a lunch at Vail Commons. Please make your lunch reservations by noon on October 1.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING The Session has called a congregational meeting for October 11 immediately following the worship service to elect an Associate Pastor Nominating Committee for the position of Associate Pastor for Faith Formation.
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE The DCPC blood drive is this Monday, September 28, 3:00-7:30 p.m. in the Congregation House. Contact Rosie Honeycutt ([email protected]) to sign up.
COME WALK WITH US! We're putting together our 2015 CROP Hunger Walk team and invite walkers of all ages to join us. Faith Formation Opportunities Loving nursery care is provided beginning at 8:15 a.m. each Sunday
(unless otherwise noted) for Infants and Toddlers.
9:45 a.m. Learning Opportunities: Preschool Children (ages 3-4 by September 1) Room 118 Kindergarten-5th Grade gather in Room 201 at 9:45am weekly for Opening Worship. Pick up is in classrooms at 10:45am. Kindergarten-First Grade Children have Godly Play in room 206 Second-Third Grade Children meet in room 207 Fourth-Fifth Grade Children meet in room 208

Covenant Class (Congregation House) Sept. 27:“College Students’ Faith-Based Summer Experiences.” The Chaplain’s Office at Davidson College coordinates three faith-based summer programs for students. In each of our sessions, Chaplain Rob Spach will briefly describe one of the programs, and two students will speak about their experiences in that program.
11:00am Learning Opportunities
TIC TOC is our children’s worship time during 11:00am worship. Children age 3 -First Grade attend worship through the Word for Children and then are escorted to Lingle Chapel. There, worship continues for a bit and then the group is escorted to room 118. Second-Third Grade Children meet in room 207. Fourth-Fifth Grade Children meet in room 208. Middle School Youth (6th-8th Grade) meet in the Congregation House. High School/Adults begin with fellowship under the tent (front of Lingle Chapel) and move to the Parlor. This group uses The Wired Word materials to discuss a recent news event with biblical and theological resources. This week’s topic is After a Miscount, Daycare Leaves 2-Year-Old Behind in Park. Coming in October: Faith and Families Gatherings. Sunday afternoons during Youth with structured activities for children.
