As one of the pioneers of the Canadian west coast, Bhangra & Hip Hop scene, Amen has DJ’ed on the largest stages and composed music for today’s most popular artists. His sound gives gracious nods towards Rishi Rich, Bally Sagoo, Jassi Sidhu, Juggy D among many others. A-slam Music Productions is an artist and production team that specializes in fusion hip-hop. Since its
creation, A-slam has been putting out hit hip-hop/r&b tracks. The company has built a reputation for
producing professional hip-hop music, and also being able to fuse hip-hop with Punjabi and Latin
influences. In 2007, A-slam received first place in the International Songwriting Competition (hip-
hop/r&b category) for their single “For You”. The single came from A-slam’s first mixtape, “Now
They’re Talking” which received heavy radio play in Vancouver. The win provided the group with
extensive media coverage including the cover of the 24 Hours newspaper, a segment on Global BC
news, and various radio & TV interviews. A-slam’s debut album will be out spring 2009, and has
already received plenty of buzz on South Asian music forums and websites. The group is constantly
performing around Vancouver and has opened for mainstream acts such as Malkit Singh, Apache
Indian, Fat Joe, Sweat Shop Union, JoSH, and Aman Hayer. For performance videos, free music, lyrics,

For You received 1st place in the International Songwriting Competition (hip-hop/r&b category) out of 15,000 entries from 88 countries. The win led to the front page of the 24 Hours daily newspaper, La Source (French Newspaper), Renfrew-Collingwood Community Newspaper, and The Voice Community Newspaper.

Reminisce and A-slam’s newest remix Nakhre has received over 10,000 hits on YouTube. As a result, the track has been added to full rotation on RJ 1200 am and 93.1 Red fm. The song has also been featured on many South Asian music websites in anticipation of a-slam’s first album.
Released Quiet Room, a song about schizophrenia. The track’s accurate depiction of the mental health issue was featured in the Simon Fraser University News (online & print).

members to the A-slam Facebook group & mailing list.

A-slam placed 2nd in Desi Fest Vancouver 2008; the contest included the top 20 South Asian acts in Vancouver. From this, A-slam had a live interview with Benjamin the Butler on The Beat 94.5 fm, and performed in Toronto (Dundas Square) in front 10,000 people. 1000 free CDs were handed out to the crowd featuring A-slam’s single For You.
Performed live on Shaw TV (channel 4 and 109) for the Children’s Hospital World of Smiles Telethon. The performance was broadcast to over 600,000 viewers.

Co-produced XYL’s EP Make Way (www.xylmc.com) including songs in Chinese, Japanese, & Korean. The album so far has led to a clothing sponsorship deal for XYL in China.
Featured on the DJ Kay Slay Mixtape, and on the annual MAWO hip-hop CD. Both CDs have been highly circulated throughout Vancouver.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered Inez’s debut album Sing Soul Girl (www.inezmusic.ca). The high quality production of the singles has led to major radio play on Aboriginal radio stations, an interview on Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, and her Facebook group increasing by 2000 members. The album will be available on Itunes.

Other NewsOther NewsOther NewsOther News A-slam mix tapes and album previews are being used to demo sound equipment at Future Shop and Best Buy in Metrotown (large mall in Vancouver). This allows store patrons to hear the songs, and often customers request the CD when purchasing audio equipment.
Successfully launched A-slam clothing; receive monthly orders from fans.
93.1 Red fm and RJ1200 am have had A-slam songs on full rotation, plus featured A-slam in live interviews. This has significantly helped to increase the fan base.
