There is an amazing movement of God happening at Chapel

Pointe! We are hearing powerful stories of transformation! People

are following God’s prompting as they take next steps of baptism

and membership. People are being led by Holy Spirit as they focus

on prayer and sharing the love and message of God. As people

are surrendering their hearts and following Holy Spirit, God is bringing

more and more families to Chapel Pointe.

Our heart is to build committed disciples to impact our community.

God has impressed upon leadership, and our members, that now is

the time to expand our facilities to do the work He has planned for

our church.

We are inviting you on this spiritual journey, asking that you diligently

pray about how God may want you to sacrificially give to this MORE

campaign. The leadership has started the journey and have been

blessed to see how God has responded more abundantly than we

could imagine.

We want you to be part of this movement! We want you to look back

with wonder, remembering what God did at Chapel Pointe as we

journey together. GOD IS DOING MORE!

DEAR CHURCH FAMILY

Reach like-minded schools and businesses: training and equipping culture-changing leaders in area schools, businesses and government agencies. The building expansion will provide meeting rooms for the organizations to gather and learn.

Invest in local missions: from Upward to Mel Trotter, Love Inc. to Alpha Women’s Center, CP will increase our support of existing partnerships and, as God leads, look to develop new ones. The building expansion will provide additional sports facilities and gathering space for meetings and events.

Develop leaders in area churches for kingdom growth: seeking out and responding to area churches who need biblical, administrative and operational leadership, CP is excited to help grow the kingdom to the glory of God. The building expansion will provide space to facilitate teaching, reflection and team support.

Equip the Chapel Pointe body: God is blessing CP through bringing new families and transforming lives of long-time attendees. The building expansion will provide increased worship space, more room for our children and students, as well as additional meeting rooms for Pointe Groups and Pointe Electives.

As transformed followers, God has stirred the hearts of those at Chapel Pointe (CP) to reach the community and change lives. Over the next few years, CP will intentionally follow God’s lead to reach more, invest more, develop more and equip more. The building expansion will more than double our opportunity to minister in those areas where God is already moving. God is doing more.

PURPOSE

Let us participate and engage. Let us now seek to increase our presence and influence in

the community. Now is the time to go deeper.

HIGHLIGHTSThe 37,000 sq ft building expansion will feature:

• New space for children’s and family ministry

• New adult ministry classrooms, more than

doubling our current adult ministry space

• New Gathering Area with coffee bar, fireplace

and casual seating for connecting before and

after services

• Chapel for small worship gatherings as well as

wedding and funeral ceremonies

• Dedicated Prayer Room

• A new Worship Center that fits approximately

1,000 seats and has a full-sized basketball court

• Outdoor campus gathering and meeting areas

• Over 100 new parking spots

How will we pay for this? We have faith that the CP community will follow God’s leading to do more. With God’s help and your sacrificial giving, we will reach the goal of constructing this new facility. It’s not about the dollar amount; it’s about doing more and joining God in the more.

What is the current financial condition of the church?All glory to God, CP is currently debt free.

Why should I sign a commitment card? Understanding that all we possess is a gift from God, it is a privilege to participate in the MORE campaign. Filling out the commitment card allows CP to understand our potential in and through our collective sacrifice to further His kingdom’s work.

What does “commitment” mean?Commitment means you and I are willing to believe God can provide through us what we cannot do alone. When we commit together collectively, we believe God will show up in amazingly powerful ways.

How long is the commitment to this campaign?We are asking each person to sacrificially give to the MORE campaign for the next three years.

What are different ways I can give?First, we are asking you to give a sacrificial gift over and above your tithe for the next three years. Additionally, some may want to give personal assets to CP for the MORE campaign. Our Financial Office is available to discuss gifts of stocks, bonds, and other assets at 616.662.8801. All gifts are tax-deductible.

How can I help?First and foremost, please pray that CP would passionately seek to reach people and change lives in deeper and more abundant ways. And pray for our MORE campaign, that we would honor God with every dollar pledged and brick laid. Second, participate in the events and meetings that are designed for each one of us during the campaign. And third, give sacrificially. The vision God has granted us can only be achieved through faith and sacrifice.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

God’s Word provides a framework for understanding giving and the responsible stewardship of resources. It also reveals specific instructions, such as those given by Paul in leading the early church. Scripture teaches that giving should be:

PERSONAL & GENEROUSMary of Bethany, sister of the recently resurrected Lazarus, relinquished a very expensive bottle of perfume in what Jesus recognized as an overt act of worship (John 12:1-8). Her behavior evidenced an intentional plan to give in a creative way that bestowed great honor upon the Lord and expressed thanksgiving to God. Don’t let fear of man, nor the reprisal of those not involved in your decision, hold you back from giving what God asks of you.

VOLUNTARY & FULL OF CHEERGiving of a “free will” arises from hearts that are stirred to participate, to fuel momentum, to worship. Paul reminds the early church to “give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor. 9:7). Spiritual joy prompts a desire to give much, despite natural circumstances of lack: “In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity” (2 Cor. 8:2).

SACRIFICIALKing David declared, “I will not sacrifice . . . that which costs me nothing” (2 Sam. 24:24). So the real question is not whether we bring a sacrifice, but rather when we do, at what cost will it be to our comfort, convenience, or control? What is the state of our heart in the process? Paul recognizes true sacrifice in the early believers at Corinth: “. . . they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability” (2 Cor. 8:3).

GOD’S GUIDE TO GIVING

DECREASE – Are there things in your life you can take advantage of less frequently? Maybe it’s fewer coffee shop runs or one less dinner out each week. By decreasing a weekly expense, regardless of what it might be, you can save a significant amount to contribute.

DELAY – Are there plans you might be making that involve a financial commitment? If so, prayerfully ask God about delaying those plans and using the extra income to contribute.

DO MORE – Often, there are creative ways to save money. Maybe it’s been a while since you requested a quote for an existing service (e.g., cell phone or cable service). Perhaps you could do some extra comparison or bargain shopping to lower expenses. For your kids, it could be as easy as saving extra change to give.

DONATE – A great way to contribute is to donate existing resources. Giving assets to the church and letting the church sell them eliminates potential capital gains taxes and may increase after-tax proceeds. Please contact the church office for more guidance before committing an asset gift in order to determine its viability for liquidation.

Are you enthusiastic about giving to the vision, but not sure where to start? Here are some creative ways to help allocate or free up resources so you can be a part of the MORE campaign.

CAMPAIGN GOALBuilding and planning for the future takes prayer, faith and wisdom. The leadership of CP has been seeking wisdom and praying passionately to see God’s direction in expanding

our influence as well as our building footprint.

We are asking the CP community to make a 3-year pledge to this campaign—above and beyond your regular tithe—that would fund approximately half of the $9M project.

To meet that end, our goal is to have 3-year pledge amounts totaling $5M.

In celebration of God leading us through this journey, our church family will turn in commitment cards together on November 12, 2017, during our morning worship services. Then we will take the next step as we put our faith in action and watch God fulfill His vision for our church. On Sunday, November 26, we will share the results of our efforts and give thanks to the Lord. Your commitment card is not a binding contract, but rather a declaration of your intentions, which will help the church plan.
