A Time For DC To Remember: Lives Lost During COVID-19 Among the most painful consequences associated with the COVID-19 pandemic has been the aloneness that it produces: victims are dying alone, they are being buried with truncated funeral rituals, and families are too often left to express their grief alone. As such, on June 14th from 11-12 noon, the Black Coalition Against COVID will present a simulcast event entitled “A Time For DC To Remember: Lives Lost During COVID-19” along with WHUT television; radio stations WHUR 96.3 FM and WPFW 89.3 FM; and the Washington Informer Newspaper. We hope that our city will stop to listen to representative families of the more than 470 people who have lost their lives to the COVID-19 virus and wrap loving arms around all of those who are grieving, not only those lost to COVID but the many other deaths that remain inadequately hon- ored because of social isolation mandates. The simulcast will not only feature family reflections but also will include messages from some of our city’s most inspiring clergy. Grief counselors will also be available for those in need. We encourage all families who have experienced a COVID-related death to please visit our web- site “blackcoalitionagainstcovid.org" and share a photo and story about your loved one as we establish a living memorial that will allow all of us to remember the people whose lives were lost too soon. Join us on June 14th at 11 AM for this special and most necessary event and please spread the word.
