King of LeonKing of LeonHere we can see Kings of Leon standing in an empty field and dressed to suit the area in their Stetsons and stereotypical cowboy dress. From their body language we can tell that they are trying to give a rough sort of edgy look and this could be to represent them as an artist or to signify the background they were photographed. The typography on the cover also matches the style they are showing and the whole cover may be to promote a single or an album and the look they are going for may have some relevance. There could be a storyline to match the image that has relevance with a video or a storyline in the lyrics to one of their songs. So this magazine cover is promoting them as an artist to gain awareness from their audience. The language that they have used under the name on the cover sounds like cowboy talk but then adding their persona at the end of the text of them being the hottest band in America.

Here we can see the artist singing or speaking into the microphone his facial expression showing concentration on something but also shows his emotions which in this case are pain and sorrow. This article shows his sadness is by the fact that he is kneeling possibly showing the fact he doesn’t have the strength to stand. Another way in which this magazine shows the sadness of the artist by adding a black and white effect, this also makes the writing on the article stand out a lot more and draws the attention to them. The artists clothing seems very casual but at the same time very hipster and by him showing his tattoos it appeals more to the audience. The typography used is very bold in a very Helvetica-like font which is known to be a hipsters favourite font, appealing again to the target audience.

Jason MrazHere we have a magazine article with Jason Mraz in it promoting his newest single at the time “I wont give up”. In the picture he's wearing a tuxedo with the bow tie and he’s buttoning it up. This connotes that the artist is getting ready for something, possibly the release of the new single?. The background is a light blue colour and by having the text in a bold font that is white its stands out a lot more and makes it more visible and stand out more. From his facial expression we denote that this artist seems to be looking directly at us the reader. It almost as if he’s preparing us for the release of the new single. This specific picture could also be taken the wrong way people could Connote that the artist expects the release of his new single to go so well he may be expecting an award?
