Continuous Improvement Process

Track• Turn logbook and usage data into

metrics

• Quantify Fleet Performance

• Track array of metrics to identify emerging trends

Analyze• Model data interdependencies

• Correlate data to perform root-cause analysis

• Assess factors influencing operation cost and maintenance burden

Improve• Identify array of corrective actions

(short & long term) to mitigate root causes

• Calculate ROI potential to inform decision making

• Allocate resources to implement courses of action

• The ESM2 program is an initiative to optimize the utilization of time constrained components and extend the current Phase Maintenance cycle.

• Major Changes in the Scheduled Maintenanceprogram are:− Extension of the Phase Maintenance Inspection (PMI) cycle from

360/720 to 480/960 Flight Hour (FH)− Provides an additional 240 FH per scheduled maintenance cycle− Creates a savings of 0.47 Maintenance

Man Hours per Flight Hour (MMH/FH)− All maintenance tasks and intervals

jointly approved by Sikorsky Engineering and Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED)

A typical Assault Battalion saves 2,510 MMH of scheduled maintenance annually.
