Day-1 ( Oct 3rd or Oct 17th ) Thabazimbi• Arrive at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Bennie picks us up at the airport

and we drive to the Marakele National Park,

•• Bontle Safari Camp near Thambazimbi, (“Mountain of iron”) the Tswana name for this peaceful

town, in the Limpopo Province.• This will be base camp for the next few days. • Food is local fare and prepared by a chef.

• We will stay in clean, safe safari tents with all the modern amenities. With no fence between you and the animals like, Rhinos, Warthogs and antelope that visit the camp daily. Campfires and stories will round out the first day.

• We will base in the Limpopo Province, a land of dramatic contrasts characterized by hot savannah plains and mist-clad mountains; age old indigenous forests and cycads alongside latter-day plantation comprise the ancient mountains fortresses, luxury contemporary infrastructures and modern-day facilities.

Day -2 & 3 ( Oct 4 & 5 or Oct 18-19th) Thabazimbi ( we will likely break into two groups and flip day 2 and 3 with one day in the park and one day doing game capture.)• We base out of our safari camp. After an early breakfast we take our binoculars and cameras,

for our first game drive, or sit in a blind for the morning to catch the animal movement to water. After brunch, we go for a game drive, this time to the mountain, for a birds eye view over the Bushveld from the top of the Waterberg mountain range.

• The Marakele National Park, named after the native Tswana word for “ place of sanctuary “. Situated in the Waterberg Mountains, in the transitional zone between the dry western and the moister eastern regions of South Africa. It has become a sanctuary for an impressive variety of wildlife. The park characterized by contrasting landscapes of cloud scraping mountains, grass-clad hills and deep valleys, and home to the largest colony of endangered Cape Vultures in the world, boasts about 800 breeding pairs.

• A visit to a Vulture Restaurant or Lion breeding facility can be arranged.

Day -3, ( Oct 4 & 5 or Oct 18-19th) Thabazimbi• Today we link up with a wildlife vet and participate in game capture. This will require being

intimately involved in the process. We will likely be using helicopters and big game transport trucks.

• The itinerary will be dependent upon what animals they are working with on this day. It may be Rhino, Cape Buffalo or it may be plains game. You will have an opportunity to be part of the capture team, traveling in support trucks and actually handling the animals captured.

• This day will stand out as one of the most memorable days of your life as we do the "Mutual of Omaha's, Wild Kingdom thing.*

• Back at our camp, around a fire, with the sound of night life, echoing in a glass of wine, we end our day, relaxing, echoing what the day has offered.

Day 4 ( Oct 6th or Oct 20 ) Graskop• After a early morning breakfast, we break up camp and drive to Graskop near Kruger National

Park, in the Drakensberg Escarpment, not yet in the Lowveld. ( this can be a 6-hour drive ) Arrive at Panorama Rest Camp, a small little town surrounded by mountains.

Page 5: AARDVARK ADVENTURES FOR YOU, with certified National tour guide

• Graskop is an old timber-yard, and gold rush town, which sits atop of a high escarpment and offers excellent reasonable shopping and breath taking views. A highlight of this village is South Africa's only silk factory, which we will tour. We sleep at Panorama rest camp, with its chalets at the rim of the canyon for two nights.

Day 5 ( Oct 7th or Oct 21 ) Graskop• All day in the Graskop area. This classy mountain timber town is home to the African silk worm

factory and is loaded with neat little shops that are walkable and safe.

• We do a day tour (3-4 hours) through the Panorama route, to Gods Window and some falls in the area.

• Our Next stop, the Moholoholo wildlife Rehabilitation centre, Moholoholo has become a haven for the rehabilitation and care of abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife. Wildlife is brought to the centre from all corners of South Africa, and once healthy enough are re-introduced into their natural environments. You will be able to walk with some of the animals, and touch a Cheetah.

• Back to Graskop, and bring to a close our day in the mountains.

Day 6 ( Oct 8th or Oct 22 ) Balule – Kruger National Park• After breakfast we head straight for Kruger Park, for a close up look at some wild animals.

Kruger National Park, one of the most famous national parks in the world and more than a century old, covering total surface area of 8.75 million acre, Yellowstone is 2.2 million acres. This natural park is 1 1/2 times larger than Connecticut.

• We Drive to Balule Camp for two nights where we camp in tents like wild men with the lions.

Page 9: AARDVARK ADVENTURES FOR YOU, with certified National tour guide

• Balule is among our favorite spots in Kruger Park. It is an old tent camp area that has been in constant use from the early 1900's. It is not a modern camp but just the opposite with no electricity. We are protected by a chain link fence but are in the heart of Lion country. Here we will cook over a fire and stay in comfortable tents with air mattresses. Night sounds at Balule are among the best on the African continent. As the sun sets, Spotted Hyenas will make their macabre laugh from jaws that can crush Elephant bones. When the stars fill the sky above our tents and the Mopani wood turns to tangerine embers, the two adjoining Lion prides will announce their claim to the territory along the Olifants River. Tonight we listen for Lions and Leopard roaring from the comfort of our sleeping bags.

Day 7 ( Oct. 9th- or Oct 23rd) Balule – Kruger National ParkWe enjoy a late rising relax with a brunch. A late morning departure will take us along the low country of the Olifants River and Letaba River where Hippo and crocs are in charge.

This day we will travel north past Olifants camp to Letaba camp, where the old monarch elephants roam. We will lunch at Letaba rest area and visit the Elephant Museum to see the Magnificent Seven. Our tour will take us into Cape Buffalo country as we travel back roads toward Phalaborwa gate.

Page 10: AARDVARK ADVENTURES FOR YOU, with certified National tour guide

Balule Camp will be our destination this night and we will again be serenaded by the king of beasts as we enjoy steaks over the open coals of a Leadwood fire. Because Balule is remote and unlit we will have some of the most impressive stargazing you have ever had as we stand under a new sky graced by the Southern Cross.

Day 8 ( Oct 10 or Oct 24th ) Skukuza – Kruger National Park• After breakfast we will break camp and travel south toward Skukuza Rest Camp on the way we

will have a hot brunch, at one of picnic spots in the park. We will spend the afternoon tracing the Timbavati river drainage looking for lions and leopards.

On your return back at Skukuza, dinner will be ready. This will be our first night in Skukuza.

Day 9 ( Oct 11 or Oct 25th ) Skukuza – Kruger National Park• Today we do a ranger walk .( optional ) With a very early coffee, comfortable clothes and shoes,

these ranger walks are especially fun as we will be escorted by two armed rangers through the African bush where we may encounter Elephant , Giraffe, Rhino and Baboons.

Page 11: AARDVARK ADVENTURES FOR YOU, with certified National tour guide

• On your return from the bush, you take a nice shower, and enjoy breakfast. Bennie will set up a game drive for the afternoon. We will travel over past the Lower Sabie rest camp and toward Crocodile Bridge. . Here big Nile Crocs bask in the sun waiting for an easy meal.

Day 10 (Oct 12 or Oct 26th ) Skukuza – Kruger National Park• Still in the Skukuza area looking for Leopard and Lion along wildlife rich Sabie River. This habitat

is rich with the big cats and elephant. We will investigate the old Selati Rail Route which used to be the only transportation corridor into the park. This route weaves through rocky “koppies ” and dense riverside habitat. It is our secret leopard hot spot. Before sunset we will travel South of Skukuza toward Pretoriuskop and the site of the "Battle at Kruger" U-TUBE video at Transport Dam.

Day 11 (Oct 13th or Oct 27th ) Gomo Gomo Game Lodge – TimbavatiAfter a light breakfast and something to drink, to help you make it through the day, we pack our bags ready to leave Skukuza, north via Satara out at Orpen Gate, straight to Gomo Gomo Game lodge. Lunch will be served at 14h00, afternoon game safari. Dinner will be at 20h00.

Gomo Gomo Game Lodge is a private and intimate camp situated between the prestigious Klaserie and Timbovati nature reserves, giving you best game viewing of both worlds. Timbovati now forms part of the greater Kruger national Park with common unfenced boundary.

Day 12 (Oct 14th or Oct 28th ) Gomo Gomo Game Lodge – Timbavati• We begin today's safari at Gomo Gomo, with our wake up call at 5h30, coffee or tea with

confectionaries. We will be traversing the 6000 hectare reserve in the Klaserie with a trained field ranger and tracker. Morning is the best time to catch the lions moving or still on a kill.

• Morning game safari at 6h00, breakfast at 9h30• Optional bush walk at 11h00. Now you can step onto the wild side with a Shangaan tracker and

ranger as we walk the trails that the night predators used just hours ago. Learning of the night story via the sand script will be a hands-on time you'll remember forever.

• Lunch at 14h00

Page 12: AARDVARK ADVENTURES FOR YOU, with certified National tour guide

• Afternoon game safari at 15h30• Dinner at 20h00 Followed by campfire stories from the very type of men who grace the pages of

life and death books from the Dark Continent.

Day 13 (Oct 15 or Oct 29th ) Departure • Sad but its true, this is our last couple of hours in the bush, in the heart of the Lowveld, where

every thing is wild, and untamed. We go out for one more morning safari, enjoy breakfast, and leave Gomo Gomo with memories, of the most Adventurous time of your life, from game capturing, breathtaking mountains, special campfires, wild animals and new friends.

• Now it's the road back to the Airport. Arrive home in the real man-eating jungle on the 26th of April.

• Depart evening from Joberg airport.----------------------------------------------------------------- Arrive back in the Jungle Oct 16th or Oct 30th.
